The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Question:

What are the top books on your TBR pile?

(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

Answer:

This question is weirdly tricky for me to answer. It seems so simple, but my TBR is anything but simple. When you ask what’s at the top of the pile, the first thing that goes through my head is – do you mean what am I going to read next or what do I wish I could read next? Because you see, I have two different TBR piles. I have one collection of books that I have promised to review with consists of NetGalley ARCs and blog tour books with the occasional author request thrown in there. The other is my pile of books that I want to read, whether or not I review them. These are books that I have purchased, books my author blogger friends have written, and books that I have seen around the blogosphere that I drooled over. I can pull from the wish pile every once in a while. And I try very hard to get ARCs of books I know I’ll buy just so I make sure to fit them in my schedule.

On top of my must-read books is a book called Blood World by Chris Mooney. I’m sure it will be making an appearance on my next WWW Wednesday. I read the must-read books by order of publication and/or date I scheduled the review. Here’s a little tidbit of its blurb: Everything changed when scientists discovered the drug. It looked like the cure for aging, but all progress comes with a price tag. Now, eternal youthfulness will be paid for by the blood of the innocent. Intrigued? Me too. ❤️

At the top of my want-to-read pile would probably be Heart of Black Ice by Terry Goodkind. It’s at the top because it is the last book in a series that I read and enjoyed the other books in very much. I like to see things through to the end—even things like tv shows. I can’t get up until a show is over or if I can’t wait until then, at least at a commercial break. I am mocked mercilessly by my family for this quirky need to see things through to completion.

How about you? Do you have one TBR piles or multiple ones like I do? What are the top books on yours?

  1. I am on quite a few author teams for the very reason of it makes sure I read the books and they don’t languish on my TBR list. I do buy them as well because I read indie authors who don’t get huge advances. Trouble is I’m on that many teams that I don’t always get a lot of ‘free’ time to read my own choices!
    Enjoy Blood World.

  2. Oh my word! I’m not the only reader with more than one TBR pile! Woot Woot! I had three piles, but since COVID I now have two piles. I had my primary pile, which were mostly books I owned the longest. I now have two books to read in my secondary pile. Amazing. 🙂 I have several books in my odds and ends pile. 🙂

    1. It always amazes me how many books there are out there that I want to read ( and how the piles keep growing exponentially bigger). I can barely remember the days when I used to think “I don’t know what I will read next. I need to find some new authors to enjoy.” 😳

  3. I have three piles – NetGalley, ARCs from friends, and then books I’ve bought. The books I’ve bought but haven’t read yet is by far the tallest – it’s hard to pass up a good bargain when they’re on sale, lol.

    1. I think I could have gone top as in books I most want to read first, too. Which is what I do with my want to read pile. Just not possible on my have to read pile, though.

  4. Like you, Tessa, I’ve got titles I’ve promised to read as well as ones I’ve bought myself. I love being part of an author’s street team and as I’m only part of my favourite authors teams, it doesn’t feel like too much of a demand on my reading time. 😉
