#5OnMyTBR | Next in a series on my TBR

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here or in the post announcing it. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.

This week’s prompt is books in a series that are on your TBR. If you have been following my blog for any length of time, you know that I love fantasy and let’s face it – there is rarely a stand alone fantasy novel. So, I have more than five on my list, but I am sharing the five I am most excited about today. All five are ARCs that I will be reviewing and, in all cases, but The Silvered Serpent, I have posted reviews on the books that came before the ones on my list. And, if you love beautiful covers – what a list of books to scroll through. It is bookish eye candy for sure. What books that are part of a series are on your TBR?

Books in a Series on my TBR

#1 The Immortal Words by Jeff Wheller (#3 and final book in The Grave Kingdom series that started with The Killing Fog)

Genre: Epic Fantasy

Book Description:

To defeat an immortal evil, a young warrior must enter the land of the dead in the spellbinding conclusion to Wall Street Journal bestselling author Jeff Wheeler’s epic Grave Kingdom trilogy.

As kingdoms fall, brave young warrior Bingmei fights to fulfill a prophecy and save what’s left of the world from the coming darkness. Should she fail, Echion, the diabolical Dragon of Night, and his queen will hold sway over the next thousand years. With Echion comes his unstoppable army of dragons—powerful, vengeful, and under his control.

Accompanied by her loyal friend Quion, Bingmei journeys toward her last hope. It lies among the savage beasts just beyond the ancient Death Wall—an uninhabited realm from which no one has ever returned alive. Bingmei’s mission is to find the phoenix shrine and learn the Immortal Words that will allow her to harness eternal magic. With Echion and his legions in pursuit, Bingmei must choose her words wisely to break Echion’s spell and accept her fate.

Bingmei knows what she must do. She must join the ranks of the dead as well. For a fearless and selfless warrior, it’s the ultimate sacrifice. But Bingmei is about to discover that even in death, the greatest sacrifices are yet to come.

Here is where Sidra’s true destiny awaits, but danger also lurks in the village’s narrow lanes.

On her trail is Jamra, another jinni, who’s after more than revenge for the murder of his brother. He also seeks vengeance for the indignities inflicted on jinn by mortals over the centuries. When he learns of an ancient relic capable of unleashing chaos on the world, and that the weapon is in the hands of his murderous sister-in-law, he vows to destroy Sidra to get it.

Relying on a sisterhood of magic, a mysteriously faithful dog, and a second-rate sorcerer, Sidra defends herself using the village’s greatest asset: its perfume. While Ryker is still held captive by the eerily beautiful Zio and her goblins, Grey falls into the clutches of Feena, the Fae queen. She begins to drain his soul bit by bit to feed her dark underground garden, and Grey has no hope of escaping on his own.

It is now up to Rune to save Grey, as his precious time slips away inexorably. But the Council has denied her permission to embark on a rescue mission, until she can harness her Venator gifts and prove herself capable of venturing into the Fae queen’s territory. As Rune discovers that promises in Eon are forged with life-or-death consequences, she realizes that she must act quickly, or else be swallowed and Grey along with her by the dangers of Eon.

  2. You’ve got a lot of reading to look forward to! I like the sound of The Silvered Serpents. All of the book covers are stunning (fantasy novels usually are), but the sound of TSS really drew me. I’ll be looking for review.

As for series books, I’m still in the world of Harry Dresden, LOL! I keep taking very small forays to read other books, and then immediately rushing back to Harry. It is just SOOO good!

    1. They sound very good. I don’t blame you. I think when you are that into a series, your mind needs to read it all before you can move on and really enjoy other books. Or at least that happens to me 😊

  3. I really think you’re going to love The Silvered Serpents, Tessa. It definitely doesn’t suffer from middle syndrome. The one I’m excited about is Queen of Volts by Amanda Foody – it will wrap up the series and is releasing in February.
