Top Ten Tuesday:  Characters I’d Like to go on Vacation With

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is Characters I’d Like to go on Vacation With. It was a bit of a challenge but you all have probably figured out that I do love a challenge.

  1. My first stop was Virginia, where I met up with the lively Finlay Donovan from Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice. After a night full of laughter and excitement with her and Vero, I couldn’t help but share my plan of a vacation to a small island I had heard of in the South Pacific. Vero had to stay back, but Finlay’s eyes sparkled with anticipation as she agreed to join me. And so, with our hearts brimming with excitement, we set off.
  2. We made a stop in New Jersey to visit Stephanie Plum from the series of the same name (by Janet Evanovich). Ranger, always a part of our close-knit group, joined us for dinner. As the night progressed, our plans grew more detailed, and by the end of the night, Ranger expressed a need to get away from it all. Without a second thought, I invited him to accompany Finlay and me, knowing that his presence would not only keep us safe but also fill our hearts with joy.
  3. We flew a little south to Philadelphia, where we picked up Lizzie Blake from Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings. Lizzie, with her infectious laughter and baking skills, was the perfect addition to our group. We spent our days indulging in her sweet treats and our nights in stitches from her hilarious stories. Even Ranger, known for his serious demeanor, couldn’t help but crack a smile or two.
  4. The next stop was the bustling New York City, where we ran into the fearless demon hunter Rose Maxwell from Not Your Exes Hexes by April Asher. After a particularly gruesome fight, she met us for drinks in a dimly lit, cozy bar. Her tough exterior softened as we shared stories and laughter, and she expressed her longing for some “me” time. I suggested she join us, and after a few more rounds of laughter-filled drinks, she agreed! Now we have a little magical muscle as well as physical.
  5. My little group filed back into the plane, feeling safe from anything coming at us and flew off to the NC mountains to pick up Nora Stephens from Book Lovers by Emily Henry. If we were going to spend our days on the beach, we would need good books. And who would be better for getting us reads than Nora? No one!
  6.  I asked Rose to use a little magic to open a portal into Charlaine Harris’ alternate timeline so we could visit Gunnie Rose (Lizbeth) from An Easy Death. If anyone needs a vacation, she does. Lizbeth has been through it since finding her sister, whom she didn’t even know existed. I just wanted to give her a vacation where she didn’t need to worry about anything.
  7.  When we successfully made it back to our timeline, I was surprised to get a call from none other than the charming Star Shine Meadows from The Love Plot by Samantha Young. ‘Rafe is out of town and I’ve just finished a big project. I could use a break,’ she confessed. Her voice was filled with a mix of exhaustion and anticipation. So, back to the East Coast, making a quick stop to pick her up and bring her along on our adventure.
  8. Finally, across the ocean, I had an idea. We should pick up Mia from The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot. There’s no one sweeter (and more affluent) than the Queen of Genovia, and I thought Fat Louie would make a good addition because I was missing my pets. Plus, Mia’s positive energy and wealth of life experiences would surely add a unique flavor to our adventure.
  9. The next to last stop is Indonesia, where I met up with the Aunties from The Good, The Bad, and the Aunties and invited them to come along, too. Who couldn’t do with some aunties to look out for them and create even more fun?
  10. After days of making stops and picking up my favorite characters, we arrived on Christa’s island in the South Pacific from Christa Comes Out Of Her Shell. We plan on having her show us all the spots, and she will join us when she’s not out on her small boat studying snails. We will spend our days exploring the island’s hidden coves, snorkeling in the vibrant coral reefs, and enjoying delicious meals prepared by the Aunties.

Whose a character you’d like to go on vacation with and where would you go?

  2. Oh my goodness this was such a fun read and creative take! I loved it, I also may be biased to New York City but that stop had me thinking YES! I added Not Your Exes Hexes to my TBR, Rose Maxwell seems like my kinda gal 🙂

  3. LOL. I love the thought you put into this, Tessa, and the itinerary. I haven’t read any of these books, but it’s an interesting way to view the characters. I’d definitely be diving into the quirky, funny, and kind barrel and avoiding most of the ones in the books I’ve actually read. Hehe.

  4. What a fun post! I haven’t read any of these books and don’t know these characters, but it sounds like I’d have a fabulous time getting to know them – as long as they didn’t try to talk to me while I read on the beach.

  5. I love this, Tessa. What an entertaining group. I love that Ranger is there, you need some eye candy. Morelli would have been okay as well. Have fun on that island.
