Just Life
As I’m sure many of you heard or even saw, a full eclipse of the sun could be seen fully or partially in the US on Monday. It was 83% covered in North Carolina where I am. For about an hour, everything turned dark like it was going to storm and then the sun came back out again. I hadn’t seen anything about where you could get eclipse glasses and it was too bright to look at with the naked eye, so I didn’t get to see it except in pictures and on TV. I tried taking a picture without looking but I guess it was too soon but you can see a little bit – kind of – maybe🤣:
Also on Monday, I realized I still had some leftover ambrosia from Easter. It smelled okay, looked okay, and tasted okay but apparently it was not okay, or so my body told me in no uncertain terms. Wednesday’s post never came out because I spent all of Tuesday recuperating from that bad choice.
I learned that you could rent a Peloton bike a couple of months ago and ever since, I’ve really wanted to get one to try. I like the rental option because if you find you’re not using it or you don’t like it – they will come pick it back up for free and that’s that. Plus you can buy it at any point for a price based on how long you’ve had it. Well, yesterday I did it! I signed up for the plan and my Peloton is supposed to be here Friday.
So, that was my week – how was yours?
Books in my Mailbox and Inbox
I’m in Gallery Books’ influencer program now, and I picked up many of these gems from that – Ruth Ware, Christina Lauren and all but one on the top row. The Image of You by Adele Parks is an interesting haul as I’m doing a 7 day buddy read with The Hive (HTP Books Influencer program) before the movie comes out (because, yes, it has been made into a movie that comes out in May).

What I Was Watching
I made hubby watch The Hustle with me Friday night – I believe it’s on Prime TV. Between us, the reviews were definitely mixed 🤣. I thought it was cute and funny and hubby was not so much of a fan. His only comment was, “It’s a good thing we didn’t pay for it.” – Not a ringing endorsement. 😂

I’m going to a book signing event for The Paradise Problem next month!

I wish I had some glasses but oh, well! That’s exciting about the book signing event. I love author/book events 💕

I started volunteering this week, at my local entertainment centre. I was lucky enough to see ”The Adam’s Family”. It was a brilliant show.

That sounds like it would be an interesting show. So glad you enjoyed it!

So sorry about that ambrosia. I have hubby here to guide me with these things…been there!
Fantastic book haul! I’ve got the Ware and Lauren audiobooks and can’t wait to start. Love that you got the Joella book, too. It’s one I’m excited about. Have a great week, Tessa💜 Good luck with that Peloton bike.

Next week, I’ll probably have a crazy Peloton story to tell 😂.

So sorry to hear that you were smitten and hope you have fully recovered. My mother was telling me that when she was a girl, they were encouraged to look at the eclipse in a bowl of water, which she said was very successful and didn’t hurt your eyes. I hope the coming week is a better one, Tessa:)).

That’s a cool idea with the bowl of water. And I do too! It’s starting with a dentist appt which is bleh but 🤞

I hope the dentist appt goes well:)).

I thought it was fun but I imagine Rebel Wilson’s humor is not for everyone.

We had 99 percent coverage here, but because I didn’t have any of those glasses, I didn’t look up. I did stay outside and experience the darkness and the cold though. I hope you are feeling all better after your bad choice, Tessa. I think it has happened to all of us at some point. Enjoy all those new books, maybe get some audiobooks to listen to while on that Peleton Bike.

Without glasses, it looked like a bad storm was rolling through – that kind of darkness. And I was thinking audiobooks would be great while I was working out!

We were at the wrong side of the globe.

I find it fascinating that it only could be seen by such a limited area on the globe. It seems like something like that would be visible worldwide but I’m sure there is a very technical reason for it.

Let me know how it goes with the Peloton. After hating spin for years, I gave it another try a couple years ago because I needed to change up my gym routine. Still not a die-hard fan (the seat cushion helps, lol), but the people in the class make it fun. Thieves’ Gambit was a good one. Happy Reading, Tessa!

I got my extra wide seat 😂🤣😂. I loved Thieves Gambit. They sent me the new paperback edition so I could take a pretty picture and repost my review with it. I did get the ARC of the next book today. It’s called Heist Royal (I think)

So jealous you already have an ARC! Hope to see it on NetGalley soon.

I’m in NC too, and had no clue where to find glasses (until after the fact when I saw a business on FB be like “we’ve got glasses!” Sigh), but I did a pinhole viewer and we were able to see it shadow-style which was really cool 😀
Ugh to the Easter ambrosia kicking back 😦

Oh, no!! I hate when I make a bad food decision like that. I did not know you could rent a Peloton!! I was going to buy one but I needed to do something now. The funds are just not there with all the kids medical stuff. So, I found a great deal on an exercise bike on amazon! It had like a $100 off coupon. So, I am only out a couple hundred if I hate it. I hope that I don’t tho! I know you can use some youtube an app vidoes for free, so I plan to use those with my cheapy bike. haha. If I end up loving it and doing it for a year, I’ll get the real deal then! Enjoy your bike!!

That’s a good idea! I really liked the idea that they would come take it away if we decide we don’t want or use it anymore. I think that was the biggest draw for me🤣
