Sunday Post 54 | Time to Order Gifts

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

Thanksgiving was lovely. Lots of good food, and I had my daughters home for a whole week ❤️❤️❤️. We enjoyed turkey, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, mac and cheese, green beans, and cornbread. And my youngest made pumpkin pie cheesecake for dessert 😋. I was beyond stuffed!

We put the food out buffet style. The greens beans, mashed potatoes, and gravy were added after I took the picture.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, I’ve moved on to ordering Christmas gifts. I am the world’s worst gift giver. I don’t think about material things for myself, so it’s hard for me to figure out material items for others. The only thing I wish I could find for the girls is a Playstation V, but those are still impossible to find unless you want to pay a significant overage to the people who buy to resell for twice what they paid for it on sites like eBay. I’m not desperate enough for that. It rankles me a bit that people do that.

The deck is almost done. Yay! And work is still crazy busy. I’ve been working part-time temporarily at a nonprofit, entering in donations and creating thank you notes for those donations. Since this is the season for giving, you can imagine.

Nothing new from NetGalley this week!!! I was sent a widget, but I haven’t done anything with it yet.

from Apple Books

Black Friday sale

Apple Books had a nice sale on Black Friday and these are the books I picked up for 2.99 or less (less in most cases). I linked covers to Goodreads.

Hawkeye came out on Disney+ this past week, so I watched the first two episodes of it. It’s good to see Hawkeye pulled out and spotlighted.

  1. PlayStation 5s are really hard to get here too. Luckily my son wants an ipad so he can practice making digital art and I managed to get one with no hassle. ❤❤

  2. Your Thanksgiving foodies look delicious! Happy Thanksgiving! We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in SA, so we are just planning for Christmas. That I haven’t even started yet…!! But let school just finish.

I need to take a look at WWW a bit! Forgot that is a popular Wednesday meme.

Have a good week Tessa and happy reading!

    1. WWW is such an easy post. You just put what your reading, what you just finished, and what you are reading next. People do it in different ways but that’s the gist. Hope your week is good too!

    1. I read the last Orphan X novel and have an ARC of the upcoming one. I loved it! I would love to read the rest of the series, so when I saw these three on sale, I couldn’t resist. ❤️

    1. If I don’t work on gifts around Thanksgiving, I tend to put it off til its a bit late. So I try very hard to do it now.

  6. I’m awful at picking out gifts too, Tessa. I’m not cheap and I love giving, but my mind goes completely blank! I end up panic shopping on line on the last day. Sigh. Looks like you got some great books from Apple. And thanks for the recommendation to try Hawkeye. My husband was happy when I mentioned it. Lol. Have a great week! Happy Reading.

    1. I enjoyed Hawkeye. Hope you all do too. I think I did pretty good with gift buying today. I will see once it all comes in and I can sort it. Lol. Have a wonderful week, Diana!

  7. Your Thanksgiving dinner looks delicious!! We didn’t do a regular Thanksgiving dinner this year and now I must do a big dinner at Christmas. I’m a terrible gift giver too, I always figure if my kids want something bad enough, they’ll just buy it themselves now that they are adults. And I never want anything for Christmas anyway.

    1. I’m exactly the same re gifts!

We don’t always do a traditional dinner at Thanksgiving. We go away a lot and just eat out. With so many picky eaters, that’s often easier. Have a wonderful week!

    1. I probably bought to many but they were all books I had my eye on before they were reduced to so cheap. My willpower for books is almost nil. Lol. Have a great week!

  9. That sounds like a very tasty meal. I have zero talent for buying surprise presents – I insist on lists and even links to specific items!

    1. it was some of my favorite dishes.😋 As the girls have gotten older, they pulled away from lists. Just when I need them the most. 🤦‍♀️

  10. Glad you got a whole week with your girls, Tessa! Hawkeye is definitely on my list. So is the Hawthorne Legacy. A Darker Shade of Magic is one of my favs – hope you enjoy those characters as much as I did.

  12. It sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. I have the grandkids gifts bought, but I have no idea what to give my two kids and their spouses. I hope I get inspiration soon. Some good books in that group. I see you are catching up on Orphan X. I just got a widget for the newest one, on audio, but I am trying to resist. I hope you have been having a good week, Tessa.

    1. I loved the last Orphan X and have the ARC of the next one, but I’ve never had a chance to read any before that. I really want to because I think he is a wonderful character and the books are a lot of fun.
