The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book-related question. Have you ever attempted to repair a damaged book?

I totally gasped at this question – damaged book!!! Oh, the horror!!! I don’t think I’ve had a damaged book since I was a teenager. And then, it was because my little brother and my sister liked to do infuriating things with my stuff. 😂
I’ll never forget when they painted my black typewriter keys (and white letters) with White Out 🤨. They also would color (with crayons) in some of my books. I have no idea how you would ever fix something like that, though.

The battery in my car died again this week. It’s the third time in 3 years, I think – 2 of those times in the last few months. I enjoy my car. It drives great except for the battery thing, has only 20,000+ miles on it, looks great, has most of the current bells and whistles – so we bit the bullet and took it to the dealership to look at – afraid, of course, that it had something to do with the computer system, which is infamous for costing a small fortune to repair. It turns out, though, that I just don’t drive it enough to keep the battery charged😂. My part-time permenently temporary job (I started as a temp and it has never been changed in the payroll system though I’ve been an employee for almost 2 years) is only down the street – maybe a whole mile away. So basically I need to find a reason to drive longer and faster streets at least once per week.
Mother’s Day was very nice! Loved having the house full with my older daughter coming home to be with me, my husband, and my younger daughter. We had lots of good food and I got nice gifts – some bookish and also beautiful flowers.

Tessa Talks Books 
I think I did that when I was young. I still sometimes glue the book if spine is broken or use transparent tapes for corners of the cover, they always seem to fray! I hope you don’t have battery issues anymore or hope it geyser changed soon. I drive two wheeler and it’s sometimes hard to make it start in the morning because of the battery.

The only repair I sometimes need to do is get rid of sticker glue 😄 And recently, Amazon managed to get my book stuck between the sticky parts of the envelope they shipped it in 🤦🏼♀️ It took me half an hour but in the end, I got all the cardboard and glue off the dust jacket.

It’s such a hassle to get it replaced cos I’m in Belgium and I usually order from the UK, so if I can avoid it, I do. I was on the chat with customer service for half an hour earlier today cos I noticed the final pages of my book are missing 🤦🏼♀️ I do have to have that one replaced or I’ll never find out how it ends 🙄😂

I repaired a damaged book haven’t but I’d love to learn how to do it properly. Glad there wasn’t anything serious wrong with your car. Time for some long Sunday drives, perhaps?

During my time as a teacher, I’ve repaired loads of books from damaged covers to the ones that fall apart because they’ve been read so much. I’ve never had to repair any of my own though. I did know about the battery thing as I had to have the battery replaced on my previous car and the garage told me that you really need to 5000 miles a year to keep the battery in full condition.

I haven’t even driven 5000 miles in the three or four years I’ve had it. 😂. I bet teachers and librarians do have to repair a lot of books. You must have picked up a lot of tricks for book repair.

We used to have a book binder in town that I would take books that I found to be repaired. I do miss them. Maybe set a reminder in your phone to start up the car a few times a week. Even running it a few mins at a time would be good. (per my s/o whom is head of IT at 2 dealerships.) I’m glad you had such a good week!

That’s a good tip! And I always thought it would be cool to learn book binding. I’ve never known anyone who does it though.

I did some minor repairs when I volunteered in my sons’ grade school library. Nothing major. That’s crazy about your battery, Tessa – you don’t drive enough, lol. Glad you had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Have a great weekend!

Totally stumped by this one! Even though my reading is all digital these days, I have an extensive library of print books that I lovingly maintain. If a guest damaged a book, he or she would certainly have hidden it from me😏

I used to be a teacher/librarian in a JK to gr. 8 school, so I repaired a lot of books over the years. I can’t tell you how many rolls of book tape I went through. When my daughter moved and left her car here, I had to drive it at least once a week for the same reason. I hated her little car, but I did it for her. It sounds like you had a wonderful Mother’s Day Tessa. It is nice that both of your daughters were home. I hope you have a wonderful week.
