Have you tried a reel on Instagram?  Plus, Weekly Updates #BookBloggerHop #bookish #discussionpost

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book-related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blogs.

Have you tried a reel on Instagram?

(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

I create reels occasionally for Instagram but I don’t them a lot because they take me significantly more time to do than the normal photos. I usually use Canva to create them and then put music to them through Instagram. I’m not sure what else to say about them. Below are a few I had fun creating:

Have you tried a reel on Instagram?

My week has been good. My allergies are still bad but I’ve heard the mild winter made for a particularly bad allergy season. And, I can attest to that!

I attended a virtual author even with Emily Henry last night, which was fun. Virtual events are a lot less frequent than they were during Covid but I try to take advantage of them when I have the opportunity. I never see any in-person events with the authors that I enjoy locally anymore. I have a signed edition of her new book, Happy Place, coming in the mail as part of the event. I came this close to getting a physical copy of the book from Berkley but I prefer going to a virtual event and getting a signed copy, so I think it all worked out for the best. The event started during our dinner time so I mirrored onto our big screen tv, which I can see from the table. 🙇🏻‍♀️💡

My ankle is mostly better now. I still have some movements that are ouchy and it swells up a little by evening, so I’m still do icing but just at night. But, I’m not wearing the brace anymore and that’s going okay. I get to wear cute sandals now that the weather is warmer.

  1. I don’t really use instagram, I can’t seem to get the hang of it 😂 sounds like an exciting week, hope you have a great week next week 😊

  2. Wow! Your reels are brilliant. I can definitely see how they would take a lot longer than just putting up a photo. Having a virtual event with Emily Henry sounds brilliant. I’m glad that your ankle is improving. Hopefully it will be completely better soon.

  3. I like making reels but not as much as taking pictures. For me, it takes the same amount of time as pictures as I mostly make them directly on Instagram. It’s easier that way even though I had to try a few times to make them synch perfectly.

  4. I like online events because I live in nowhere VT so they don’t really have an local sort of events, it’s all a 2 hr drive to Boston. So glad your ankle is doing better x

  5. This will sound strange – but I once did a reel by accident. Yesterday I did my first intentional one. I used Canva, then added music through Instagram. Glad your ankle is doing better, Tessa!

  6. I’m still new on Instagram but don’t think I’ll ever do a reel. They’re entertaining but I enjoy those that talk about books in some interesting way in a short moment.

Glad your ankle is healing and allergies are under control, Tessa💜

  8. Love your reels they are so fun! I joined in again this week but my answer was different to yours. 😂 I can’t wait to see what you think of Happy Place, I can’t decide if I want to read it or listen to it. Glad your ankle is better and I hope your allergies improve very soon!

  9. Allergies are horrible, I’m lucky it is only freshly mown grass which will set mine off. I got a poem published in an anthology called Pride of Britain. We are over Covid now, thankfully. Getting to see my daughter and granddaughter again is great.

  10. The author event sounds so exciting! Good luck with your ankle and allergies. I haven’t done IG reels before, I’d have no idea where to start. Maybe something worth looking into when I have the time. Yours look great.

  11. I don’t use instagram except that my facebook images add to it. Those reels are interesting, but when they take a lot of time, it might not be feasible. I’m glad your ankle is doing better and the weather is as well. I am so tired of rain here. That’s great that you were able to attend a virtual event and enjoy it. Have a wonderful weekend, Tessa.

  12. Your instagram looks great 🙂 I don’t really have the time or the technology to put much effort into mine and I don’t use it as much as Twitter.
