It’s been a mostly beautiful week in North Carolina this week. Sunny skies and just the right temps. The weatherman keeps threatening us with winter temps, but as of yet, they haven’t materialized.

I had a lovely birthday on Tuesday. Hubby made me yummy cupcakes, and we decided to get takeout from our favorite restaurant since it was a weeknight. I got so many bookish gifts, even from my sister, who got me a print of the original Pride and Prejudice cover and some other Jane Austen-themed gifts. My husband got me some technology-type gifts that I can have fun with, and my daughters and MIL joined the bookish gift bandwagon. So lots of fun stuff!

My oldest daughter is coming home today for a week or so, making our home full once again. She’s feeling overwhelmed by work and felt like it would help if she works remotely from home for a bit. Of course, our door is always open, but as a mom, I can’t help but worry a bit.

My ankle continues to heal. My splint doesn’t actually fit my in shoes like it’s supposed to, but I’m making it work. Luckily, dressing casually is perfectly okay because it’s tennis shoes or slippers at this point 🤣

We started watching season 3 of The Mandalorian on Disney+. There are plenty of Grogu hijinks to laugh at, which I love. He’s so cute!

  1. What a nice mix of books – I’m going to take a minute and check out each of them (except maybe the romcom) – they all look interesting. Have a terrific week and hope you enjoy a good book!

    1. I thought so too. It always intrigues me which books publishers send me NetGalley widgets for.

We are meant to be getting below freezing temps again this week and maybe even some snow…..so looking forward to that!!!!

    1. I hope my ankle does too! And thank you for the birthday wishes 🥰. I hope the freezing weather and snow doesn’t materialize unless you want it to.

  3. Happy birthday!

Our weatherman keeps telling us it’s going to get colder here too and has even mentioned snow. I really hope it doesn’t come to anything though!

  4. Happy Birthday (belated)💜 Sounds like it was absolutely wonderful! I’ve barely been online as hubby is still recuperating from a week at the hospital and I’m recovering from oral surgery. We’re doing okay but it’s been a challenge.

    Have a wonderful week!

    1. I’m so glad you two are doing okay. When I had my week in the hospital, it took me months to fully recuperate. And oral surgery – what a headache. At least you both are on the mend. I’ll be sending healing/positive vibes your way.

  5. I can understand why you would worry, but at least you can make her feel better whilst she stays with you. Hope you have a great week and I’m glad you had a good birthday 💕

    1. She is my child with very bad anxiety but she has been doing so well in spite of it. It always worries me when she takes a giant leap back. Hopefully family time will allow her to reset.

  6. I’m glad that you had a lovely birthday. Your gifts sound brilliant. Our weather here is cold and grey which is a bit depressing. It is getting lighter though. Your new reads look interesting. Have a lovely week.

    1. They all did well with gifts this year. I was really impressed. I’m never easy to get gifts for because I ask for things like time together and other things that money can’t buy. 😂

  7. Happy belated Birthday! I’m glad it was a wonderful day for you and to many more. ❤
And I’m going to have to check out these books.. I don’t think I know of a single one.
Thanks for sharing and I hope your March as just as lovely.

    1. They all are very new. The publishers love to send me those NetGalley widgets when they post a book. Thank you for the birthday wishes!

      1. You’re very welcome!
And that’ll do it. I would probably get in over my head very quickly with NetGalley.
I can’t wait to hear what you think of Dreambound, it sounds killer.

    1. They were! And, yes, definitely. Now that the younger one has a job and a direction, the older one is melting down. At least they typically take turns causing me worry. 😂

    1. I’m glad they were visible for you because all it was showing for me in reader was the words I typed in. None of the dividers or pictures of books, etc… Thank you for the birthday wishes!

    1. Thank you! It’s always nice to have her home. I have to give up my book photo studio (which is in her bedroom 🤣) but that’s okay.

  11. Sounds like you had a fabulous birthday, Tessa! I also received the widget for What the River Knows – couldn’t resist that description. I enjoyed Frey’s prior book, but the Dreambound description didn’t grab me. Also started Mando last week. Grogu is just too cute.
