February’s Birthstone is:
The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.
Have you joined the library reading app, Libby?

Another very specific question! Yes I have. When you look up certain books in my library’s catalogue, it tells you to use Libby to access that book. I tried looking up information about Libby and if everybody who has a library card can access it, but I couldn’t find an definitive information. It implies that you can but I don’t know for sure. I also don’t know if it works internationally. I’m thinking probably not but again I’m not sure about that.
Do you have an app like Libby that you can use for library books? Or do you use Libby?

No, I haven’t as I don’t think it has a library from India and particularly the one in my town to which I have a membership.

I use Overdrive to download all of my books. The software is on my computer and allows me to transfer the audiobooks to iTunes and then add to my iPhone books app, which is my app of preference for listening (I even upload my Audible books to listen on that app). Libby is promoted on the Overdrive site but I don’t know what the difference is between the Overdrive and Libby apps so I ignore it. It’s available from the Overdrive library platforms. You only need a library card and the pin assigned.

Libby has audio books. I wonder if you are encouraged to download them through Overdrive 🤔

Libby is part of Overdrive. Everything on Overdrive is available on Libby. There’s a reason they push Libby but for the life of me, I can’t figure out why. Maybe it’s that “loophole” created by Overdrive related to the audiobooks😏

I do! I’ve used Libby for years, but mostly for audiobooks. I gave my parents my library login info (theirs doesn’t have nearly as many offerings), and they also use it.

I love your book choices! I use Libby but our library is tiny, and so they don’t have a big book budget. So it’s hit or miss for books. They will pull books from the whole state, but those are limited too and Amazon isn’t kind to libraries with ebooks

I am very lucky to live in a small town that’s in the same county as a mid-sized city. Because of Charlotte, we have so many resources at our disposal.

Mae Clair told me about Libby a while ago. It was useless where I lived. My local library didn’t participate (it’s small, anyway) and I never made it to a nearest local “big” library where it would have been useful. I should do it now that I’ve moved to a town with a great library, but I haven’t gotten a card yet. Sigh. Always something.

I’m in the UK so can’t use Libby but do use BorrowBox, which is the app my library is linked with.

It’s probably very similar. I feel like I’ve heard of BorrowBox but I haven’t seen it used here.

Your book stack is so gorgeous!! It makes me want to go to the beach for some reason. haha. I’m not the biggest fan of Libby. I used Overdrive for YEARS but they are going away with it and changing it all to Libby next month. I finally switched over and Libby is just not as user friendly and makes it harder to search for books on order. It’s going to take some getting used to.

Aquamarine plays into a beach theme so nicely, doesn’t it? Trying to choose book covers to represent the gem was a bit of a challenge but I was happy with what I found among my books. 😍

I never got on with Kindle, I prefer reading actual books.

I never thought about that – that if you read only physical books you would have no need to try an app that the library uses. Duh, right?
