The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

What is the significance of your blog header?
(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

My blog header, which you may not see depending on how you look at my posts, looks like this:

My blog header changed a lot when I first started out. I just couldn’t decide on a theme that I liked and that reflected both writing and reading. Back then I was writing as well as reading, though in the last few years, the reading has taken over all my time. Finally, one day it hit me. Where do I love to read and write the most? Where does my imagination soar the easiest? Where am I the happiest?
The answer to all three of those questions led me to one place – the beach. Sitting and listening to the waves crash has always made my mind free itself enough where the stories just pour into it, so it had to be a beach theme. I couldn’t believe that it took me so long to come up with it. And that theme has persisted over years.

I use a tropical beach because the colors are so vibrant but the beach where I vacation is right here in the US – Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. It is also the beach (or near there) that my husband and I hope to retire to down the road when it’s that time. So it’s also my dream along with all the other aspects – and this blog serves as a reminder to me daily to keep reaching for that dream.
What is the significance of your blog header?

I love purple thats why I chose mine, but it may change at some point now I’m settled, but it’s finding the time 😊

It does suck up time playing with graphics and such 💕

I recognized the lighthouse immediately. I LOVE Hilton Head.
My blog header matches my website theme (a mysterious moon mostly hidden by clouds in a green night sky). But I usually use a featured image, so you won’t often see my header unless you’re on the main blog page rather than an individual post. Fun question.

Same with mine. Hilton Head has been a favorite of ours for 20+ years. We go every summer 😊

I really need to actually consider this question Tessa? I’ve never given it a lot of thought but I can see it’s relevance

I’ll love to see what you come up with 💕

I also recognized Hilton Head! I guess mine goes along with branding. My header matches my author banner I use at book events.

Very relaxing! I love to visit the beach. We usually go to Holden Beach, NC, which is very close to Myrtle Beach.

I’ve been down that way a few times but never for a full vacation. I like that area 💕

Thanks for sharing the reasoning behind your blog image. I’ve loved it and now each time I see it, it will remind me where your heart is💜
My reading is eclectic, embracing just about every genre, so I wanted something that wasn’t literal but reflective of my mood. In the five years since creating it, I’ve considered changing it several times but always come back to it still reflecting my mood and mindset. The colors, murky images and shapes…still feel like me. Guess it always will. My “blue mood.”

I have enjoyed reading behind the scenes of the header you have Tessa. I think it is awesome, and the sounds of the ocean are so soothing to me as well. Have a fantastic weekend honey 😉

Your blog header definitely reflects your happy place! Mine is a forest in the mountains, so mine reflects my happy place.

I also changed my blog header a lot since I started my blog. Now I try to match it either with the blog title or theme so there always will be books in my header.

It’s good to have the consistency of an element like books.

I originally created my blog header to match the cover of We Watch You. I found a brooding cloud picture and darkened it.

Writer Ravenclaw is a name I thought of with my daughter. I have always been a Harry Potter fan, and it seemed a really good name for me to pick.

There isn’t a great deal of significance in mine. I change it when I get bored and try to have something that is easy on the eye and matches whichever colour scheme I’m using.

I get bored with aesthetics regularly too. Now, I just keep my changes within the beach theme.

I can understand why you’d want to retire there, it’s gorgeous.
Great post and thanks for sharing! ❤

I think so too. The island is so relaxing 💕

We should just all retire there.. start a real world community of readers and writers. The library would be killer. 😆
