I think it’s been 3 weeks since my last Sunday Post, and I was sick for most of that time, sadly enough. No, I didn’t have Covid, but I did have an upper respiratory virus that involved a great deal of coughing. I only felt bad for the first two days, which luckily was before Christmas, but I lost my voice and coughed for two weeks. The coughing stopped a few days ago, and my voice is mostly back, just a little squeaky still. I am happy to be done with the coughing!

We had a lovely Christmas and a quiet New Year’s. Since I was still coughing, we decided to stay in and watch the first two episodes of the third season of His Dark Materials. Though, we did order in dinner. A got a lot of bookish gifts for Christmas (pictured below).

We also celebrated our wedding anniversary on the 29th. We’ve been married since college, so quite a few years. My hubby made my day, week, year, and more by getting me the sapphire solitaire ring I’ve always wanted. I just love sapphires 😍.

So, that was my week – how was yours?

So many things!!! I’m still watching Willow on Disney+ and the new season of His Dark Materials on HBO Max. Also, ABC just started its new series, Will Trent, based on the Karin Slaughter character.

  1. Aww I’m so sorry to hear you were ill – hopefully you’re feeling better! A chilled new years is always so lovely though – and his dark materials is definitely a great watch! So far, I’m only part way through the first episode 😂 But I’m not in that much of a rush to watch it as I’ve read the trilogy so I know how it ends 😆 Have you read it? If not, I’d 100% recommend!

    1. My husband and I did a buddy read of it years ago and we both loved it! The ending is a bit different than I remember from the books but it definitely keeps with Pullman’s theme.

The Block Party is on my list. I love the cover and hope the book is just as good.

    1. We loved it when we were kids too! This series is very interesting. The way they did it reminds me a little of The Princess Bride.

    1. Thank you! I always wanted a sapphire engagement ring and he got me a small one at first (since we were both in college, we didn’t have two nickels to rub together). Then his parents gave him his great grandmother’s engagement ring which is a traditional diamond, so I’ve been wearing that since he gave it to me. But I still wanted a sapphire engagement ring after all these years. Now that the girls are out of college, we finally have a little extra money to start exploring those long held wish list items. And I just love it 🥰😍❤️

  6. Happy Anniversary. I’m glad you are feeling a little bit better. Our week has been quiet, I go back to work tomorrow on a training day. It was my granddaughter’s first week in nursery, and she loved it. Even asked her mum yesterday, if she could go.

  11. I’m sorry to hear that you were sick for much of the holiday, Tessa, but glad it wasn’t covid. Coughs and sore throats have been going around. Glad you’re feeling better. I don’t have Disney+ or HBO Max, but it’s so tempting to pick at least one of them up! Enjoy a wonderful year of entertainment of all sorts. 😀

  13. Congrats on your anniversary and getting that beautiful ring!!! I’m sorry you’ve caught a nasty respiratory virus. They are going around a lot right now. Ollie got one a while ago. I took him in last week bc he’s been coughing so bad at night.. for weeks now. Apparently, it’s a thing they have been seeing bc he’s fine and nothing was wrong but it is just a lingering cough. We are still going. Ugh, I’m so ready for winter to be over.

    1. My husband wanted me to go to the doctor once it had lasted a week and I laughed. I told him they would tell me to keep doing what I’m doing – that coughs tend to linger. And then they would metaphorically pat me on the head and send me on my way.

      1. Yep!! That’s basically what they did with us so you saved yourself time, for sure. I just needed to make sure it wasn’t an ear infection bc last time he had a lingering cough he had a terrible double ear infection. Just keep drinking fluids and using honey were our recs! lol

  14. Glad to hear that you’re feeling better (coughing is the worst and I always hate it when my bronchitis flares and I can’t stop coughing and it hurts!) and belated Happy Anniversary!! 😍 It sounds like you had a wonderfully cosy time at home, which I personally always love more than going out! Nobody Puts Romcoms in A Corner sounds really cute and I hope you enjoy it. I hope you’re having a great week so far!

    1. The coughing comes back periodically but I have been able to knock it back out with one does of meds each time. I think it’s on its way completely out. Finally!

  15. I’m reading this several weeks after you posted, so I am hoping you are back to normal, Tessa. What a lovely gift from your husband for Christmas. I also had the cough, but didn’t get to a doctor. Lots of sinus issues as well. Belated Happy New Year!

    1. That cough made its rounds for sure but whatever my daughter had at Thanksgiving and I had at Christmas wasn’t highly transmissible which was good. We got to suffer all on our own. Doctors can’t help coughs unless there is some other complication with it or causing it, so there isn’t much of a point in going unless you have a fever or something to indicate it’s more. Hope you’re feeling better too.
