I thought I’d be reading Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger on Halloween which seemed totally appropriate, but another book took a bit longer than expected, so I’m going to start this one later today.

Genre: Psychological Thriller

Pages: 393 pages

Publisher: Park Row

Publication Date: November 8, 2022

“A deliciously tense ride.” —Ruth Ware, New York Times bestselling author of One By One. Three couples rent a luxury cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway to die for in this chilling locked-room thriller byNew York Times bestselling author Lisa Unger. What could be more restful than a weekend getaway with family and friends? An isolated luxury cabin in the woods, spectacular views, a hot tub and a personal chef. Hannah’s generous brother found the listing online. The reviews are stellar. It’ll be three couples on this trip with good food, good company and lots of R and R. But the dreamy weekend is about to turn into a nightmare. A deadly storm is brewing. The rental host seems just a little too present. The personal chef reveals that their beautiful house has a spine-tingling history. And the friends have their own complicated past, with secrets that run blood deep. How well does Hannah know her brother, her own husband? Can she trust her best friend? Meanwhile, someone is determined to ruin the weekend, looking to exact a payback for deeds long buried. Who is the stranger among them?

One of three books I’ve been anxiously awaiting, of course I started reading the minute it downloaded into my iPad. You all know how much I love Stephanie Plum and all of Janet Evanovich’s books. I’m unapologetically giddy and am just sad that I’m already finished reading it!

  • Genre: Thriller (with humor)
  • Pages: 325 pages
  • Publisher: Atria Books
  • Publication Date: November 1, 2022
Stephanie Plum breaks the rules, flirts with disaster, and shows who’s boss in this “fast and fun” (Publishers Weekly) thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Janet Evanovich. Monday mornings aren’t supposed to be fun, but they should be predictable. However, on this particular Monday, Stephanie Plum knows that something is amiss when she turns up for work at Vinnie’s Bail Bonds to find that longtime office manager Connie Rosolli, who is as reliable as the tides in Atlantic City, hasn’t shown up. Stephanie’s worst fears are confirmed when she gets a call from Connie’s abductor. He says he will only release her in exchange for a mysterious coin that a recently murdered man left as collateral for his bail. Unfortunately, this coin, which should be in the office—just like Connie—is nowhere to be found. The quest to discover the coin, learn its value, and save Connie will require the help of Stephanie’s Grandma Mazur, her best pal Lula, her boyfriend Morelli, and hunky security expert Ranger. As they get closer to unraveling the reasons behind Connie’s kidnapping, Connie’s captor grows more threatening and soon Stephanie has no choice but to throw caution to the wind, follow her instincts, and go rogue. Full of surprises, thrills, and humor, Going Rogue reveals a new side of Stephanie Plum, and shows Janet Evanovich at her scorching, riotous best.

The Body Falls by Andrea Carter is my second attempt at reading a book published by Oceanview Publishing. The first book I tried from them didn’t go so well but still I’m going to give this one a try. It sounds good and has good reviews. The only thing I’m worried about, which is what I had trouble with in the previous book, is the technical aspects – overwriting and forced dialogue. As you all know, I have a very low tolerance for them.

  • Genre: Mystery/Thriller
  • Pages: 337 pages
  • Publisher: Oceanview Publishing
  • Publication Date: November 1, 2022
Solicitor Benedicta (Ben) O’Keeffe returns to her practice in Glendara where a charity cycle event is delayed by torrential rain, trapping the cyclists in town. Then the body of the event organizer washes down the mountain, literally falling onto a passing vehicle. Bridges are down and roads are impassible. The town is cut off with a murderer at large in the community. Fear predominates—chaos ensues—and Ben redoubles her efforts to find the killer before they strike again. Perfect for fans of Louise Penny, Lisa Gardner—and, of course, Agatha Christie

What are you reading? Do you love it?

I am also doing a book tour on Instagram today, in case your interested in wedding planners 😉:

    1. It’s like when an author spends almost a whole chapter describing how the character made and ate breakfast but there is no connection at all to the main plot – it’s just unnecessary information and definitely doesn’t warrant pages and pages. I hope this book is one I enjoy ❤️

      1. Cool! Thanks for the info!

The series is so good! Totally recommend! The book series was also adapted into a TV show that’s on Amazon. I haven’t watched it yet as I wanted to finish reading the books before I tuned into the show.
