The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Have you ever reread a book? If so, why did you decide to reread it?

I’ve only reread a book twice in my life and both times it was a series and not just one book – other than when I was in college and would reread the classics we were studying once the lecture was done, if I could find the time.

The first time was the Harry Potter series right before the last book came out. I hadn’t read the books in order – don’t ask – and I wanted a refresher.

The second time was after the first Lord of the Rings movie came out – it felt so close to the books that I reread the trilogy mostly just to see how close it actually was (and it was very close!)

I don’t have anything against rereading but there are so many books out that I want to read, I never stop long enough to even consider doing it.

    i have reread one series so far and wish to reread many because I absolutely loved those books and also because most of them I read before I started blog so I wish to post reviews here on blog.

      I can’t imagine rereading a thriller just for that reason, though Alice Feeney always makes me think about it with hers because I want to see how she set it all up knowing the twists.

    I used to reread a lot. Then I became part of the book blogging community and my TBR got so huge I stopped rereading. Now I’m actively trying to reread more. I often feel like rereading a book I loved but my TBR glaring at me stops me from rereading it, so now I’m actively trying to ignore the TBR and reread anyway 😄

    I used to reread a lot but I do it less now that I’m part of this amazing community. I never used to have a TBR list until I started book blogging. I still reread though as I love to revisit my favourite characters and places.

    My TBR list is embarrassingly long, but I do reread favorites sometimes rather than starting something new. I find I do that at certain times of year, when a particular book coincides with a fond memory (or vice verse). I also do it sometimes when I’ve read or refused to finish a really bad book and want to assure a good reading experience with my next selection. (Nothing worse than two or more lousy books in a row.) 🥰

    I used to reread favorite books often when I was younger, but I rarely reread now. I think before the bookish internet was a thing, it was harder to find new books to be excited about. Now, my TBR is so massive that revisting books I’ve already read doesn’t sound as appealing. If I reread now, it’s usually on audio as a comfort book.

    I’ve re-read many books, especially before I became a bookblogger. I’ve re-read individual books, and I’ve re-read entire series. I’ve re-read books because I loved them so much that I just wanted that comfort again. And I’ve re-read several books because I forgot I read them in the first place (this has happened too many times!). I’ve reread books from my youth that I just loved just to see I still love them.

    I posted this in response to Nicki’s question but it’s relevant here, too.

    It’s rare for me to reread with so many books on my TBR but one series stands out and it’s In Death by J. D. Robb. These were some of the first books I read when I returned to the mystery/romance genre about twelve years ago after a really long hiatus (at least a decade). I read the entire series three times when there were about 35 books. Now, I’m rereading via audio the Troubleshooters series by Suzanne Brockmann as part of a group read. It was the series I read immediately after the third go around with In Death. It lead to my discovery of Shelfari and then Goodreads. I’m loving it and it makes such a difference on audio.

    I doubt that I’d be rereading outside of group reads, however. My TBR is outrageous.

    Harry Potter books I have read multiple times, but it is only every so often. I will re-read any book if there has been enough time in between because I love reading.

    As a child, I had favourite books I re-read but it’s not something I do very often as an adult. The times I have read a book or series again is when I’ve been in a reading slump. The rest of the time there are too many new books to read!

    I have over 3000 books on my TBR list on Goodreads, no time to reread. I do reread books that I read to my kids and now my grandkids, but not sure if that counts. I have reread a book by accident. It was a new cover and by the time I realized I had read it before, I skim read it as I sometimes forget the story. I wish publishers wouldn’t do that.

    I’ve reread quite a few books. A lot of times it’s because a book I’m reading now reminds me of that book or that series, and then I feel like revisiting it. Or I just feel like reading something that I know and feel comfortable with, something I know I will like.
