Last weekend was very nice. Lots of relaxing and some good food, too. Even though this was a short week, boy was it a busy short week. Everything got crammed into the 4 days.

This weekend is cooler and very very wet – all weekend long, so a sleepy weekend full of books and writing reviews. Next week should be quiet. I’ve got to call the vet and ask how much a teeth cleaning for my female part-Maine Coon cat (she’s got the size but not the telltale ears of the breed) will cost and schedule that. They keep bugging me to do it and she is now considered woman of a certain age 😉 at the ripe old age of 8, so I can see where it could be helpful, maybe. Have any of you with pets had that done? Did you find it to be a good thing or no?

Just an aside of sorts – I changed my Twitter handle from @TPulyer to @tessasbookblog – I’ve been wanting to do it for some time to reflect more what it’s used for (and can you believe tessatalksbooks was taken by Poised Pen Pro Book Talk Radio 🤨). When I started my twitter account, I didn’t know what I would use it for so I just used my first initial and last name, but now that I know (and have for a while), a change was in order. So, let the chaos ensue from me doing that.

So, that was my week – how was yours?

No new books this week, except for a signed copy of Babel by R. F. Kuang that came in a subscription box. I’m still sticking to me resolution not to request anymore books from NetGalley (except in special cases), just accepting widgets that look interesting. The only widgets I was offered this week were for books already on my NetGalley shelf.

We’re still watching one episode per week of The Rings of Power on Prime Video and loving it! Out this week is the new season of Cobra Kai on Netflix (a show about the characters from Karate Kid all grown up with families of their own), which we started watching, and we are also enjoying She-Hulk on Disney+ (one episode per week). So plenty to stream right now!

    1. Her momma (who has the Maine Coon ears) ended up on a friend’s door step pregnant, so Josie was given to me for just a promise of loving her ❤️. I just love her eyes. They are so expressive and pretty.

  1. It was same with me. My twitter handle was different when I signed up in 2012 but when I started to blog in 2017 I changed it to book blog name Or something similar. I hope next week is more relaxing.

  2. Up to now, I’ve resisted the urge to join the Twitter platform. I find it extremely superficial and time consuming. And if I miss out of some social media attention because of it: well I’ve not made a conscious decision to step out of the rat race to join another one.

  3. I have an old twitter account floating around out there. I made it when I was working, but hardly ever used it and when I starting blogging, I made on with my blog name. I forgot all about the old one until reading this post. We had a lovely weekend up here in Southern Ontario, but next week will be cooler and damp. I had my dogs teeth cleaned when he got older and it was expensive, but he was like a new dog afterwards. He ate more and had more energy. I wish I had done it earlier. I wish I had your willpower with NG, Tessa. I should delete the bookmark for awhile, so I won’t just look. Have a wonderful week!

    1. I’ve definitely had to resist looking and it’s not always easy. Hope the week isn’t too yucky weather-wise.🤗

    1. I don’t either. And it doesn’t make me feel good that they’ve never mentioned a price all the times they’ve told me they would recommend it.

  4. My vet has recommended teeth cleaning for Raven, too (she’s 6). They’ve been recommending it for two years now, but I’m just not sure. I’ve had cats all my life and none of them ever had teeth cleaning done. I know pet dentistry is huge right now. Raven doesn’t seem to be bothered (in fact she’s gained weight, so clearly no problems eating). I hope all goes well with your kitty.

I’ve only seen the first ep of Rings of Power so far. It was okay, but I was really disappointed in the guy they have playing Elrond. He’s gong to have to grow on me.

I had no idea Cobra Kai’s new season was released. I LOVE that show!

    1. He wasn’t even in the third episode at all I don’t think. So maybe he’ll be just a bit character. And Cobra Kai has grown increasingly darker but I still enjoy it ❤️

  5. Aaaah you have a gorgeous cat! Elza says hi. Teeth cleaning for cats… Hmmmm – I don’t know. My dogs get that dental sticks and Hercules is 13 and only has his first bad tooth now. But I am a sucker and usually listen to the vet.

I am trying very hard to convince myself to make next year an ARC free year. Only read the books I already have. And there are loads. But then FOMO hits me… I’ll still see how far I get!

Have a great week Tessa and I need to sort out my social media handles a bit as well…..

  6. I have a Bookshelf Journeys twitter and I attempted to use it for a while when I first started my blog, but I just can’t seem to manage to keep up with everything. I also set up a IG account separate from my personal one. They’re all named after my blog, but damn, I need more time!! And NetGalley. Well. The question is how to read all the cool books offered there and be on the “early” side or to read the extensive list of backlist titles I want to read. When I see all the cool new books showing up on blogs, I want to be one of the “cool kids” and read it early too, but then……a girl’s got to know her limitations. I keep thinking I’ll have more time for all the extra stuff when I retire (next year? she says hopefully). We’ll see.

    1. I’m so with you! My Twitter account has the most followers at close to 5500 but my engagement is so low because I just don’t spend any time on there. My IG account has great engagement so I tend to divide my time between it and the blogs. And the only reason I can do any of that was because I went on sabbatical from counseling due to a crazy health event and now that that’s all better, I’m just working part time. If I worked full time there would be no way.

    1. I think Babel does too. It was actually on my list to get from the library but then I got a surprise in the mail, so I’m a happy girl! And NetGalley is like what a free candy store for kids would be like. Just way too tempting.

  7. Adorable cat 🙂 Never had a cat’s teeth cleaned, no advice sorry. Thanks for mentioning the Twitter handle, I didn’t notice!

  8. I have had cats in the past, but never got their teeth cleaned. I would love to have a Maine-Coon cat, it would certainly put my Shottie in his place, that and I don’t think the pigeons will finally leave me be. I have solar panels, and even with netting around them, the pigeons will not leave.

    1. There are so many dogs I see that I go, wow, my cat is twice as big or more. Lol. She is a funny one though. Pigeons don’t like hanging out around our house because they find that they have a scary audience every time.

  9. I’ve had a couple of cats get teeth cleanings done. As long as the cat’s kidneys are in good shape, then it’s perfectly safe and helpful for the cat. If their kidneys are close to renal failure, then stay away from it as long as you can. It’ll cause the cat’s kidneys to fail much quicker.

I love the fall weather. I just hope it lasts longer than two weeks and doesn’t go straight into winter weather.

    1. That’s good to know about the kidneys! Thank you 😊. We will have about 6 weeks or so of summer/fall weather. The turn always comes around Halloween in Charlotte.

  11. We watched the first three episodes of Cobra Kai over the weekend, but I still haven’t started She-Hulk. Planning to finally watch the new Thor tonight with Son #2 and a friend. Your cat is so adorable!

  12. What a cute kitty💜 I used to brush my pooch’s teeth on my own (was not fun). Not sure if it’s the same protocol for a cat but it certainly improved his breath😏

Congrats on the Twitter name change. I checked and my following the new name showed up. However, when I click the share button on your site, it still uses the old.

  13. my family and I are OBSESSED with She-Hulk. I was a little hesitant about watching it at first because of all the crap about the CGI and it looking corny as hell, but the first episode was great. the cameos are the best. especially Madisynn and Wong. they seriously need their own show, kind of like I Am Groot where they just review TV shows…lol or more booze.

  14. Gorgeous cat. I’ve watched a couple of the Rings of Power. But my attention was a bit divided, so I don’t have a firm opinion on the show. I do like the epic dramas.
