I’m about halfway done with Lucy Checks In and I’m enjoying it. It’s a bit slower paced than my normal reads but it’s a shorter book so overall the book is still going pretty quick. I love the setting in France.

  • Genre: Romantic Comedy
  • Pages: 288 pages
  • Publisher: St. Martin’s Press
  • Publication Date: August 16, 2022
Dee Ernst’s Lucy Checks In is a delightful work of romantic comedy about a disgraced hotel manager who travels to Rennes to rebuild a hotel and her own life in the process. Lucia Giannetti needs a fresh start. Once the hotel manager of a glamorous NYC hotel and intimately involved with the hotel’s owner, Lucy had her entire future planned out. But when the owner disappears, taking millions of dollars with him, Lucy’s life as she knows it falls apart. Two years later, forty-nine years old and unemployed, Lucy takes a job in Rennes, France to manage the Hotel Paradis. She pictures fur quilts and extravagant chandeliers, but what she finds is wildly different. Lucy is now in charge of turning the run-down, but charming hotel into a bustling tourist attraction. Between painting rooms, building a website, and getting to know Bing, the irritatingly attractive artist, Lucy finds an unexpected home. But can she succeed in bringing the Hotel Paradis to its former glory? Witty and heartfelt, Lucy Checks In is an inspiring and feel-good novel about reclaiming your life, finding love, and creating a home in places you never thought possible.

I finished Ashfall Prophecy yesterday and it was fine. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I did the first book last year – Ashfall Prophecy – but I’ve liked all of Pittacus Lore’s books that I read.

  • Genre: YA SciFy
  • Pages: 432 pages
  • Publisher: HarperCollins
  • Publication Date: August 16, 2022
Pittacus Lore finished telling the story of the Lorien Nine in the New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four and Lorien Legacies Reborn series. Now he’s back with the second installment in an all-new adventure duology rooted in the real mysteries surrounding Roswell, New Mexico, that will enthrall fans of Brandon Sanderson, Jay Kristoff, and Amie Kaufman. Syd Chambers grew up on Earth with his human mother and barely remembers his alien father from Denza, who left on a mission when Syd was very young. After leaving Earth, Syd learned the truth of his father’s disappearance on the planet Ashfall—his father had died protecting a devastating secret about the history between humans and Denzans. Syd is now faced with a choice—free humanity from imprisonment on Earth, which will allow them to come into physical power beyond their wildest dreams; or destroy Earth so that humans never have a chance to enslave, torment, and kill other species again. It has been prophesied that Syd is destined to become a world-killer, but Syd is determined to choose his own fate, and knows there must be another path forward that will honor his father’s sacrifice.

I am reading The Wedding Cake by Isabella May for a Rachel’s Random Resources blog tour. It looks like a lot of frothy fun, so I am looking forward to reading it starting tomorrow. I thought I had read another book by this author but it must have been someone by a similar name.🤷‍♀️

One steamy summer in Spain. One accidentally double-booked eight-tier wedding cake that needs to put in a same day appearance at a rustic countryside finca AND a beachside villa. Two brides. Two grooms. Hundreds of hungry guests. FREYA ASHCROFT, owner and culinary whizz at Marbella’s five star bakery (and general queen of dating disasters), is going to need a miracle to save this date. If only that was her sole dilemma. She’s also fallen head over heels in love with super hot fitness instructor, TIM NUTKINS… and his rippling abs. Which would be fine, if he wasn’t one of her aforementioned male clients. A forced proximity rollercoaster of a forbidden love romance with a sweet happy-ever-after.

What are you reading? Do you love it?

  2. Lucy Checks In sounds interesting. I just returned from long weekend vacation and still not in mood for normal life, moreover, my kid is not feeling well but hopefully I’ll finish the book I started before vacation.

    1. Thanks for letting me know. I also forgot to change the date from the 10th to the 17th 😔. Yesterday was a trying day for sure. But at least I’m reading a happy story!

  3. I’m reading a Linda Le Plante novel about the early days of her famous detective. How she got into being a detective, and the struggles many women face in the police today.
