#BookBloggerHop | Let’s Talk First Editions

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Is there a hard-to-find first-edition that you would love to own? If so, why?

Is there any hard to find first edition that I wouldn’t love to own? I can’t imagine that though I wouldn’t pay for just any book.

I would be willing to pay for first editions from the Victorian era of the US and UK as long as it wasn’t more than we could afford.

If I had to pick just one, I would chose Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen because it was a book that was special to my grandmother, and she gave me her copy (which was not a first edition though it was old)- which made Pride and Prejudice special to me. It was also the first classic I ever read.

Is there any particular first editions you would like to own?

    I don’t know. I have a fascination for special editions but not exactly for first editions. I would like to own many special editions if I don’t have to worry about my pocket. I always love character arts, bonus material, that beautiful hard cover, maps and all the other things that comes with special editions.

      That’s probably worth quite a bit already – especially a UK edition to people in the US. I bet that worth will increase exponentially in years to come. ❤️

    First editions don’t particularly matter to me. If anything, I’d buy a special edition but to be honest, I mostly talk myself out of those as well 😂 I regularly indulge in a FairyLoot edition, which is not exactly cheap (the shipping costs especially are ridiculous) but it’s still affordable and well, one must indulge sometimes 💁🏼‍♀️😂

        I have my eye on the new Brigid Kemmerer they’ve announced. She’s one of my favourite YA fantasy authors and the FL edition is all kinds of pretty 😍🤩 (Yes, I’m a total magpie, I know 😂)

          My whole family – even my husband (his reaction is more curiosity)- gets weirdly excited when the fairy loot box comes. There’s just something about them.

    No first editions immediately come to mind. I do have a 1943 edition of a Nancy Drew book I found in my great aunt’s house several years ago. It sits on the shelf along with several other I read in grade school.

    I don’t collect books and have very few physical copies of books. I can see the attraction of a first edition, but I can’t think of one I’d want to have.

    First editions don’t particularly interest me. There are old or special versions of books that would appeal – for example, old Winnie The Pooh books with original illustrations. Maybe a first edition Harry Potter? I’m shallow enough to be more interested in what the cover looks like than whether it is first edition or not 🤣

    I used to have books that I save, (Not first editions or anything) and decided that I needed to stop saving them as I do not reread books. I have no interest in First Editions, it is just not me.
