The graduation went splendidly last weekend. It was cold and drizzly but luckily the department graduation was inside, so the weather didn’t interfere. And our pride in our baby girl and her in herself kept the day very festive. (These pictures are from the Department of Psychology graduation. The college-wide ceremony is held at the football stadium earlier in the day.)
I didn’t get any sleep on Friday or Saturday night, so this week has been all about catching up. Catching up on sleep, catching up with everyone’s blog and catching up with social media. I haven’t caught up with Twitter and Instagram yet. I even took an unexpected week off from picture taking but hopefully this week I will be catching up with everybody on social media.
This week will be about getting the house in tip top shape because next weekend, we are off to the beach for the week! So, next Sunday’s post should be from Hilton Head Island 😃. I love to come home to a clean house, so I work hard to get it to that point before we head out.
How was your week?

I haven’t taken any direct author request in a very long time, but Robin Kirk’s email to me was so organized that it made me want to take the chance. She’s a Duke professor, and I started to joke with her about the fact that I’m a Carolina mom, which is Duke’s biggest rival. I was afraid that the fact that I was joking wouldn’t translate well via email so I didn’t mention it. 😉
Did you get any good books this week?
I noticed that The Lost City with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum was already on the Paramount app so, of course, we had to watch it. It’s a fun adventure movie – some lol moments and some thrills. Not to mention that Sandra Bullock’s character is a romance writer and Tatum is her cover model – so, some bookish fun ❤️

And congrats to your daughter!

Thank you! The Lost City is a little bit cheesy as well as funny but it’s perfect for a watch at home kind of movie.

I am! She graduated with honors so it was really cool to see her graduate in the first group to walk across the stage and her honors announced. ❤️

It’s been such a trying week. I tried to take a blog tour book review down to a spotlight but that didn’t go over as I had hoped, so I just spent the whole week fluctuating between sleeping and feeling overwhelmed. I already have pictures ready for this coming week, though.

I’m so pleased the graduation went well. I’m not sure how things have changed since I went to university but we just had the one ceremony for “The School of Biological Sciences”. I know what you mean about wanting to return to a tidy house after a holiday – we still have 3 offspring living with us (aged 19 – 22) so it doesn’t matter how much we clean up we know it won’t be tidy on our return.
Hope you have a great holiday!

I understand from friends that University is a bit different in the UK than in the US. In the US, colleges have different departments based on your major. So they have a graduation ceremony for everyone in the college no matter their major and then smaller ceremonies hosted by each department where they actually call names and have them walk across the stage.

I’m with you. I wish sometimes I could read all my ARCs in order of want/mood rather than publication date.

Hilton Head is very nice. We’ve been going there since I was pregnant with the daughter that just graduated from college 😮. I can’t believe it’s been that long.

Glad the graduation went well and you are looking forward to the beach (jealous!). Elodie’s Library of Second Chances sounds good! I hope you enjoy all of these. I am also waaaaay behind on Twitter and Instagram (and catching up on others blogs).

I didn’t know The Lost City was streaming, so thanks for the heads up. I saw it in the theater – a fun way to spend a couple hours – but hubby hasn’t seen it yet. Get those books ready for reading on the beach, Tessa!

Oh Tessa, I am so thrilled to hear that your daughter’s graduation ceremony went splendidly! 😊 I can also sympathise with the last week just being about catching up… although I don’t think I did very successfully, after I got back from a lovely weekend away. 😅 As for my viewing it has been pretty low since I finished the final season of the epic, historical TV drama, The Last Kingdom. ⚔
Take care, happy reading, and I hope you get all your cleaning and packing done in good time!
