The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.
On average, how long does it take you to write a review?

I write my reviews in stages. First, I dump all my thoughts on to paper and let that sit. Then, usually the next day, I carve that mind dump into a coherent review. Lastly, I send it through Grammarly to catch the things I didn’t. It finds all my pesky passive voice sentences, typos I missed, and things like that.
That whole process takes, on average, maybe an hour to do, at most. My mini-reviews only take about a half hour from start to finish, at most. They are very easy. That’s part of the reason you have seen more mini-reviews lately – with all the books I some how took on, being able to do a mini-review means more time in my schedule to read.
How long does it take you to write reviews?

For me it takes mostly an hour or two. But if time isn’t write, I get interrupted or don’t have mood it might take whole day.

Mood definitely plays a role. I put off writing them when I’m not in the mood.

I have never thought of using grammerly to check my posts. Definitely going to do that from now on!

It all depends on how much I liked the book. If I loved it it can take days but if I didn’t it’s minutes! 😂

That’s funny – I’m just the opposite. If I love a book, the review practically writes itself but if I don’t, I struggle to find things to say.

I have found that taking a few notes when I’m reading a book really helps me. But, mine takes between a half-hour to an hour as well.

I highlight and take notes within the ebook. When I actually read a physical book, I sticky note it to death 😂

I skipped this question as for me it can depend on so many different things. Some reviews take no effort to write whilst others I really struggle to put down my thoughts. I also don’t really pay much attention to how much time I’ve spent so I probably couldn’t give an accurate figure anyway.

I totally just guesstimated. I know that the initial rough draft is pretty quick but other than that I’m not completely sure. And, yes, it totally depends on the book. Some books inspire reviews that practically write themselves while others just inspire a blank stare at the screen ❤️

Most of my reviews take about 30 minutes or less since I think about them in the same format each time (quick summary, what I found most interesting, bottom line with audio evaluation). If forces me to think more succinctly. And, I like writing.

Mine is probably half an hour….maybe? I take notes on my phone whilst I’m reading and then when I’ve finished I make my notes into some sort of semblance of a review and then post it or I’ll forget it!!! 😂

It really depends on the book for me. If it’s something I loved, maybe thirty minutes. Ironically, if it’s one that didn’t work well for me I tend to spend more time on those. I never trash a book, but try to give a balanced review.

I do exactly the same. The books I don’t care for or are just meh, I have to put a lot more thought into to make them fair and constructive. Those I often ponder for days.

My norm is about 15-20 minutes per review. I write reviews within a few hours after finishing a book when my impressions are fresh, or at the latest, the next day (If I finish the book late at night). If I’m doing an ARC review, I may take longer just to make sure I cover all bases.

I like doing them pretty soon after finishing the book. I feel like there is no chance of the next book somehow influencing the review that way.

It definitely matters if the book means something to you, otherwise it can be a 30 minute slog rather than a 20 minute piece of enjoyment!

It takes about half an hour to an hour to write my review depending upon how much time has passed since I read it. It takes longer to prepare a post for my blog though.
