The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

What is your first read of the year?
(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

Oops…I jumped ahead to 2023’s first question. Oh, well! Anything to show off this cover, I guess 😉
I was very fortunate in my first choice to start and finish reading in 2022. I totally fell in love with Anatomy, A Love Story, and I can’t think of a better was to kick off my reading this year. My review will be coming next Thursday the 13th of January and I will tell you then exactly what I loved about it.
And I want you to look at that cover closely. Can you spot the woman in the picture? So COOL!!!!!
What is your first read of the year? How do you like it?
The cover is gorgeous, and no, I didn’t spot the woman at first 🙂 Can’t wait to read your review next Thursday! It’s such a great feeling to start a year with a good one.

Isn’t it cool? I was like “Woah!” when I finally noticed it. ❤️

Wait……. I thought there was another question for this week? I’m doubting myself now hahahaha. My first read was a reread, but my first new read was a DNF. Whoops.

Oops- it totally is 2023’s first question. I didn’t notice that he had gotten rid of 2021. Lol. I’m just so used to scrolling down. Good catch, Laurie ❤️

Hahahaha! I already was like: do I really have to rewrite tomorrow’s blog post?!

I’m leaving it. I’m such a rebel without a cause. Lol. I figure that could easily be a good question every January because the response will be different each time. 🤔

You had me worried for a minute then Tessa! I’ve decided to take part and panicked that I’d got the wrong question 😂. Beautiful book cover though!

My first read was bound by firelight by Dana Swift.

Stunning cover! My first read was The Gathering Storm (review coming soon) and it was fantastic!

When I saw that cover on one of your other posts, I just scrolled by. I just thought it was a heart. Today, I saw the woman right away. It totally changes my perception of the book. My first read was Dolly Parton: Songteller and you already know that I loved it.

Dolly Parton ❤️❤️❤️. She makes me happy whenever I see or hear her. Such fond memories of listening to her music at my grandmother’s house, who is a huge fan too.

I love covers like that. I wish I was nearly as creative as the artist.

You know, as long as I’ve had this cover in my digital cover album, it wasn’t until I went to post it on Instagram that I noticed the woman. And wow – what a surprise. I guess looking at it like art instead of just a book helped me to see it in a whole new way.

That’s really interesting. I saw the woman in a gown before I saw the heart.

That would make a good little quiz – sort of like the young woman/old hag silhouette.

Exactly! (I saw the hag first. I hope that doesn’t mean I am one.)

Anatomy was a winner for me – loved that book and wouldn’t mind reading more about that character. My first read this year was Flamefall by Rosaria Munda. I finished the audiobook, but was disappointed because I thought it was a duology – but it’s not. At least one more book to go. Have a great weekend, Tessa!

I’m adding it right now. Love the cover. My first completed read of the year was The Christmas Promise by Richard Paul Evans. It was just okay for me and not what I expected. Happy reading, Tessa! ❤

This book is definitely on my TBR. I love the time period and the story sounds compelling.
My first read of the year was Love in a Broken Versel by Mesu Andrews. It’s the story of Hosea and Gomer from the Old Testament. It was good but also difficult to read because of the way the people behaved.

I can see that. It was really a harsh period of time.

I panicked reading your question and thought I’d done the wrong one, lol. I do love that cover – happy reading!

No, I’m just too used to scrolling way down and didn’t notice that he had gotten rid of all the old prompts 🤦🏻♀️. I even noticed the 2023 but it just didn’t register in my poor brain. Lol

I gotta say that you read books with the greatest covers, Tessa💜
My first book was a short story, The Academy by Robert Dugoni and it got me off to a wonderful start.

That cover is gorgeous. I’ve seen it before, but never noticed it was a woman until you pointed it out.

I didn’t notice until I was getting a picture of it ready for IG and then it stood right out. I guess looking at it in a more artsy way made it more obvious.

I’m looking forward to your review on this one! I’m reading more of it tonight. I have to admit the cover reeled me in for this book but it’s the kind of setting I love!

I love the setting too. And the medicine angle is so fascinating.
