What Am I Reading This Week – December 29, 2021? #WWWWednesday #amreading #CurrentlyReading

I have a physical copy and an ebook version of We Watch You by my dear blog friend and fellow The Write Reads blog tour participant, N.S. Ford. I’m looking forward to finally get to read her self-published thriller, which I will start today!

  • Genre: Dark Psychological Thriller
  • Pages: 233 pgs
  • Publisher: Indie Published
  • Publication Date: October 1, 2021
FOUR FRIENDS. THREE ENEMIES. TWO TRAGEDIES. ONE TERRIBLE TRUTH. A small English town is rocked by the disappearance of a local woman, Tina. As the search continues, someone is targeting her former best friends for revenge. Lauren, Jess, Claire. They all hide secrets. Who knows what they did? Who’s watching them? The truth is stranger and far more sinister than they can ever imagine. A dark, twisty thriller which will grip you until the very last page.

Bad Luck Bridesmaid is an unexpectedly complex story. I just finished it right before I put together this post, and I’m still mulling over my thoughts. It’s definitely not a conventional love story, so I’m going to take some time to think about it before saying anything complementary or constructive.

  • Genre: Rom Com / Chick Lit

Happy Ever After. On Her Own Terms. It’s official: Zoey Marks is the cursed bridesmaid that no engagement can survive. Ten years, three empire waist dresses, and ZERO brides have walked down the aisle. After strike three, Zoey is left wondering if her own ambivalence towards marriage has rubbed off on those she loves. And when her building distrust of matrimony culminates in turning down a proposal from her perfect All-American boyfriend, Rylan Harper III, she and Rylan are both left heartbroken, leaving Zoey to wonder: what is it exactly about tying the knot that makes her want to run in the opposite direction? Enter Hannah Green: Zoey’s best friend, who announces that she’s marrying a guy she just met (cue eye roll). At a castle. In gorgeous, romantic Ireland, where Rylan will be in attendance, and Zoey will be a bridesmaid. It’ll be fine. Okay, the woman definition of fine (NOT FINE). Determined to turn her luck around, Zoey accepts her role and vows to get Hannah down the aisle—all the while praying her best friend’s wedded bliss will allow her to embrace marriage and get Rylan back. But as the weekend goes on, Zoey is plagued with more questions than answers. Can you be a free spirit, yet still want a certain future? Can you have love and be loved on your terms? And how DO you wrangle a bossy falcon into doing your bidding?

I enjoyed Stranger in the Lake by Kimberly Belle, so I’m expecting that I will enjoy My Darling Husband – her next book.

  • Genre: Domestic Thriller
  • Pages: 331 pgs
  • Publisher: Park Row
  • Publication Date: December 28, 2021 (for some editions, other formats aren’t going to be out until March 2022)
Bestselling author of DEAR WIFE and THE MARRIAGE LIE, Kimberly Belle returns with her most heart-pounding thriller to date, as a masked home invader reveals the cracks in a marriage. Everyone is about to know what her husband isn’t telling her… Jade and Cam Lasky are by all accounts a happily married couple with two adorable kids, a spacious home and a rapidly growing restaurant business. But their world is tipped upside down when Jade is confronted by a masked home invader. As Cam scrambles to gather the ransom money, Jade starts to wonder if they’re as financially secure as their lifestyle suggests, and what other secrets her husband is keeping from her. Cam may be a good father, a celebrity chef and a darling husband, but there’s another side he’s kept hidden from Jade that has put their family in danger. Unbeknownst to Cam and Jade, the home invader has been watching them and is about to turn their family secrets into a public scandal. With riveting twists and a breakneck pace, My Darling Husband is an utterly compelling thriller that once again showcases Kimberly Belle’s exceptional talent for domestic suspense.

  1. I’ve also been reading more thrillers lately – which is unusual for me. I try to read in order from my NetGalley shelf and came across a string of them together.

    1. That’s what always happens to me. Waves of either thrillers or fantasy. I just came out of a wave of fantasy and now I’m in a wave of thrillers. I do love both genres ❤️
