Sunday Post 53 | Thanksgiving is This Thursday – What?!?!

Today, I have a five-hour drive ahead of me (round trip). We are going up to Raliegh, NC, to see my youngest perform with her college dance company. Then, we are returning home with my oldest and her cat. The younger will return home on Tuesday. It will be a long and late day, but we all have to work on Monday, so what’s a parent to do.

This week was a comedy of errors with the deck boards that didn’t show up last Saturday. They were rescheduled to come on Monday, and – surprise, surprise – they never showed. So, we rescheduled them for this Friday. Well… on Tuesday, when hubby returned home from work, he wanted to know why I didn’t tell him they brought the boards. They did what???? Apparently, someone decided to disregard the Friday date scheduled and just brought them and put them in the driveway. I’m just happy they are here. I wasn’t going to quibble about the delivery being early.

To all my blog friends in the US – I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with lots of love, warmth, and good food.

My schedule will be light this week with mini book reviews of a Thanksgiving read on Tuesday and other books literally from my shelf. What??? I read two books that I have bought in the last year. On Thursday, I’m just going to post a wrap-up of the Christmas books I read and reviewed this fall for those of you looking for Christmas reads for December – I’ll probably post the regular memes because I can get them ready quickly and ahead of time. I’ll be around, but it will be here and there when I can.

I’ve had so many NetGalley books recently that I didn’t have room to put books that I’ve gotten from Amazon.

We tried the new The Wheel of Time series on Prime Video . I had trouble following at first but by the end of the 1st episode I was following along thoroughly and looking forward to more.

    Have a safe trip today and happy thanksgiving. I pretty much only buy books I’ve read as an arc because I just don’t get time to read them. I also have too many already that I’ve bought over the years and not read.

    I had a very laid back week. I did put up my Christmas tree and the kids helped decorate it. Yesterday was the five year anniversary of the passing of my husband, so I got together with my kids and grandkids and we went to dinner and toasted to his life and memories. I began watching Yellowstone this week. I have watched the first three episodes of season 1 and am on the fence right now. I also read and listened to a lot of books, so overall, it was a good week. It sounds like you continue to be very busy. I am glad you got your deck boards and can work on that project. I hope today goes well for everyone and that the dance performance is wonderful.

    I hope the performance went well. My husband had to do a nine hour round trip on Saturday to pick up our daughter from University. She’s home now until 2nd year starts in March.

    Well, I’m glad the deck boards showed up, Tessa, even if late/late/early. What a pain, huh? We’re having similar issues with an attempt to get a propane tank. Rescheduled for March! You have some great books lined up. Enjoy. And thanks for the heads up on Wheel of Time. I hated the books (and for some reason read them all) but have looked forward to the series (hoping it will be an improvement). I’ll be sure to pay attention to the first episode.     After a couple of novella reviews at the beginning of the week, I have a lighter blogging week too thanks to a few changes in books and also because I originally thought I’d be doing some NaNoWriMo writing. Oh well. I’ll use the time to maybe get caught up on non-review books! Have a good week!

    Although I no longer live in the US, there was a time when I’d celebrate Thanksgiving, but on Friday instead of Thursday. Now that I’m mostly on my own, I can’t imagine making a whole bird! But have a happy one, anyway!

    I also read a book from my own shelf over the weekend – Aurora’s End. It was one of my most anticipated this year, and after that mind-blowing cliffhanger, I couldn’t wait to see what happened. Wheel of Time is on my list also! Glad you finally got the deck boards, no matter how they got there. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family, Tessa!

      Yeah for reading books from our bookshelves! Wheel of Time was pretty good once I understood what was going on. I don’t know that any of it is mindblowingly original, but I thought it was pretty solid.
