Sunday Post 40 | Has Life Given Me A Lemon?

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

This week was a much better week technologically speaking. Only a few minor hiccups that were easily remedied: a charging cord that no longer charged (bought a new one) and the WP app would close on me whenever I tried to comment on someone else’s blog (switched to my computer – problem solved). Not bad.

I’m still trying to work out my schedule around this project I took on for the non-profit. It’s only a max of tenish hours per week, yet it surprised me how much it changed my day. My blog commenting, etc… was spotty at best, but I will figure it out once I get more into the flow.

So, how is life giving me a lemon? Well not actually life but my little lemon tree I showed you earlier this summer, finally has a growing lemon on it! I might actually get a lemon this year which is sooner then expected 🙂

I am over the moon excited about this ARC! You may remember that I reviewed book 1 and it left me totally gobsmacked, it is that good – Finlay Donovan is Killing It. I can’t wait to dive in to Book 2. I’m absolutely giddy with anticipation.

Book 2 of the Finlay Donovan mystery series

From Edgar-Award nominee Elle Cosimano, comes Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead—the hilarious and heart-pounding follow-up to Finlay Donovan is Killing It.

“A funny and smart, twisty and surprising series.”—Megan Miranda

Finlay Donovan is—once again—struggling to finish her next novel and keep her head above water as a single mother of two. On the bright side, she has her live-in nanny and confidant Vero to rely on, and the only dead body she’s dealt with lately is that of her daughter’s pet goldfish.

On the not-so-bright side, someone out there wants her ex-husband, Steven, out of the picture. Permanently. Whatever else Steven may be, he’s a good father, but saving him will send her down a rabbit hole of soccer moms disguised as hit-women, and a little bit more involvement with the Russian mob than she’d like.

Meanwhile, Vero’s keeping secrets, and Detective Nick Anthony seems determined to get back into her life. He may be a hot cop, but Finlay’s first priority is preventing her family from sleeping with the fishes… and if that means bending a few laws then so be it.

With her next book’s deadline looming and an ex-husband to keep alive, Finlay is quickly coming to the end of her rope. She can only hope there isn’t a noose at the end of it…

There’s a part of me that will always be a kid at heart, so when I saw that Netflix made a Kissing Booth 3, I couldn’t wait to watch it. Teen romcoms always crack me up, and I enjoyed the first two movies – 1 more than 2 – so, how could I not watch 3? Okay, the movie’s totally unrealistic – boyfriend and best friend are brothers – boyfriend attends Harvard – bestfriend is going to Berkley – Elle got into both, but which to choose? Berkley with bestfriend like they always planned or Harvard with boyfriend? That’s a real life dilemma if I’ve ever heard one. 🤣. Watching the bestfriends fill their before college bucket list was a lot of crazy fun and I ALWAYS enjoy a happily ever after.❤

  1. I saw all those books on NG’s Read Now option and was unable to get them for some reason and it made me so sad 😂 Although now I’m glad cos I’m horrible with staying up to date on my ARCs lol! But they do look amazing and I hope you enjoy them all 🙂 Hope you have a great week ahead!

    1. That’s too bad! I took all but one from that email because they look so good and are not out until next year. I was sad there was no fantasy books among them, but I love that St. Martin’s does this every so often.

    1. I have such a brown thumb that even flowering plants often stop flowering in my care, so this is just so amazing to us ❤️

  2. Finley Donovan knocks em dead, love that title. I am in need of a good book, and it sounds like it would make you laugh and cry at the same time. I was watching a Disney film with my son, his friend, and husband. it is about two brothers and magic. It is called Onward and aimed for children. Not going to spoil the ending, but I cried at the reveal at the end. I always cry at films, and TV shows, even comedies. I love the lemon tree – even with lemons bloom with love.

    1. I saw that one with my daughters. I think it was the last movie we saw at the movie theater before everything shut down. You’re right, it did tug at the heart strings. Those kind of movies always bring a tear to my eye.

That lemon in your garden looks cool and I can’t wait for you to show it fully grown! And I’m currently about to start reading Love From A To Z, have you read it before?? Great post!

  6. Girl, you have so many posts per week that I struggle to keep up! Sounds like you have excellent devotion to your blog if you were worried you missed some blog hopping; I didn’t notice any lags or absences from you at all! Your collage of covers from NetGalley remind me just how much book covers have trends. Right now, the cartoony people are in, which I much prefer over having real people on the covers. However, I also wonder if those cartoon images make books look more like YA, or like only women should read them.

    1. I think they are more reflective of romcoms – YA or adult. That collection was so colorful, wasn’t it? Like bright bold colors. This week has been busier than usual with 3 extra posts. Next week will be boring in comparison.lol. It’s just a normal week. ❤️

      1. Whew, THANK GOODNESS! I am very busy this week, scheduled at 40 hours with the new job. That is not normal; I’m working more because I’m not attending classes yet, but I have to say, nothing kills my feet like standing for 7.5 hours. Nonetheless, I’m having fun!

    1. You must read the first one! Like sooner rather than later. It’s such crazy fun. You won’t be able to put it down ❤️

  7. Glad the technically difficulties have been minor this week and that you have your first lemon growing on your tree! 🍋 As for my week, it has been a busy, exciting one as I was away for another mini holiday, so not much reading, although in the evenings I enjoyed a chapter or two of the thrilling Thunder on the Right by the ‘Queen of Suspense’: Mary Stewart. 😃

  8. I just haven’t been able to get into a blogging/commenting rhythm at all lately so I wish you lots of luck with re-finding your balance with your non-profit project in the mix! 🙂

I enjoyed the first couple of Kissing Booth movies too and am looking forward to watching number 3 at some point.

    1. I hope you enjoy 3. It’s a good conclusion to that trilogy. And changes do have a way of throwing us for a loop, don’t they?

  9. The Family Plot… I ‘m trying to think now – wasn’t that a Hitchcock title? I need to go and take a look at that book!

Have a good week Tessa and enjoy all your new books!

    1. Is it? It would be fitting that’s for sure. That’s one creepy family that this book is about. Definitely worth a look!

  10. I adore your Grogu meme. I also got that email from St. Martin’s and downloaded two books – really glad they don’t release until next spring. So cool you have a lemon! I gave up trying to grow anything except herbs and flowers. I’ve killed so many tomato plants it borders on genocide (vegicide?)

    1. I was sad there was no fantasy in the read nows. And yes, I’m pretty much full up through Jan and have Feb and March half scheduled. Crazy how far out my scheduling is.
