#WWWWednesday – August 18th | What Are You Reading?

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words.

The Three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m reading this for a The Write Reads blog tour and so far it is very compelling and a fast read. I could have finished it yesterday, but I stopped to write up the review on my last book instead. By the time you see this, I may be done.

The Meeting Point by Olivia Lara

  • Genre: Chick Lit
  • Print Length: 368 pgs
  • Publisher: Aria
  • Publication Date: September 2, 2021
What if the Lift driver who finds your cheating boyfriend’s phone holds the directions to true love? ‘Who are you and why do you have my boyfriend’s phone?’ ‘He left it in my car. You must be the blonde in the red dress? I’m the Lift driver who dropped you two off earlier.’ And with these words, the life of the brunette and t-shirt wearing Maya Maas is turned upside down. Having planned to surprise her boyfriend, she finds herself single and stranded in an unknown city on her birthday. So when the mystery driver rescues Maya with the suggestion that she cheers herself up at a nearby beach town, she jumps at the chance to get things back on track. She wasn’t expecting a personalised itinerary or the easy companionship that comes from opening up to a stranger via text, let alone the possibility it might grow into something more…

Wow! Such an epic fantasy for MG or for any age, really. I was blown away by everything. Another The Write Reads blog tour and my review comes out on Friday.

Fireborn by Aisling Fowler

  • Genre: MG Fantasy
  • Print Length: 384 pgs
  • Publisher: Harper Collins
  • Publication: September 30, 2021
Lyra. Lucy. Percy. Once in a generation, a hero emerges whose story enthralls readers worldwide. Fireborn is an epic quest, perfect for fans of the His Dark Materials and The School for Good and Evil series, that will spin readers into a magical world like no other–and introduce them to an unforgettable new heroine named Twelve. Ember is full of monsters. Twelve gave up her name and identity to train in the art of hunting them–so she says. The truth is much more deadly: she trains to take revenge on those who took her family from her. But when Twelve’s new home is attacked, she’ll find herself on an unexpected journey, where her hidden past is inescapably intertwined with her destiny–and the very fate of her world.

I’ve known of Fern Michaels for a long time but I never thought to pick up one of her books. I don’t know why – I guess they just weren’t on my radar. But I decided to change the with her soon-to-be-released book Hidden. It sounds so good.

Hidden by Fern Michaels

  • Genre: Thriller
  • Print Length: 368 pgs
  • Publisher: Kensington

A page-turning new story from the bestselling author of No Way Out, perfect for fans of Nora Roberts and Danielle Steel! Meet a brother and sister who are drawn into a treacherous mystery through an antique with a dark past, as they race against time to help a single mother and take down a ruthless couple bent on taking control of their family’s legacy… At first glance, few would guess that Luna and Cullen Bodman are siblings. Cullen is efficient and serious while his younger sister Luna is a free spirit. When the two launch their furniture restoration shop/café—an offshoot of the family’s longtime antique business—in an up-and-coming arts center, little do they know their unique talents may be their only defense against a dangerous betrayal. When Luna gets a strange sense about a piece Cullen just acquired, the two find themselves uniting to solve a mystery that has far-reaching consequences—never knowing there are some who’ll stop at nothing to claim what they believe is theirs. No matter what, Luna and Cullen know they can rely on each other—and this time, their lives may depend on it…

  1. Fireborn sounds great, I loved watching His Dark Materials on TV. Another interview today, didn’t get the last job, but that is okay. I’ve created a power point slide this time. Hoping it will let me show it on Teams, my on line interview. I’m not reading anything, but I am reading some great blogs, so I hope that counts.

    1. I did too. It pulled me in immediately. I got a little frustrated with Maya but not overly much. And I think it’s a wonderful story ❤️

  5. She finds out about her cheating boyfriend from the Lift driver – and you just know that’s happened more than once. Didn’t I mention pig boyfriends in a review earlier this week, lol?

    1. ROFL. Your comment totally surprised me and had me truly laughing out loud. The stories any driver could tell, right? The boyfriend was definitely the dirtiest of all the pigs on the farm.
