Sunday Post 35 | Calm Week … Before the Storm?

This week was pretty quiet. Great news is we received both bed frames and mattresses and hubby spent a good portion of yesterday getting them all put together and set-up. Yay! My daughters have a place to sleep again when they come home here and there. Now, the fun part – getting Ikea to credit my credit card for the beds and mattresses that I originally ordered but that were cancelled – parts by them and parts by me. But, that’s a problem for another day. I have the credit card company working on it because that seemed like the safest route.

Next weekend is a busy weekend. Friday, we will pack up a U-Haul with all the furniture, etc… my daughters wanted from their rooms and storage and drive it up to Durham. We have movers scheduled up there to unload the U-Haul and carry everything up by stairs to their third floor apartment. Nothing can go wrong with all of this right? We’ve moved enough to know to expect the unexpected. But maybe we’ll get lucky. It happens. I haven’t won the NC million dollar lottery for people who have gotten the Covid vaccine yet, but that should be no reflection on the luck that I generate, right?

The new season of Big Brother started this week. My husband and I only started watching it a few years ago but now we are front and center when a new season starts. I also watched a few things on HBO Max. I have never seen the Titans, but they have been promoting season 3 which will drop next month, so it caught my eye. I watched part of season 1, so far. It’s DC – so it’s dark, violent, and a bit disturbing but also kind of interesting. But, on the side of HBO – the lighter family side, is the second Space Jam movie. I never thought they would make a second of this movie but they did. So to dispel the dark violence of the Titans, I watched it. It’s fun. Good message. Kids should love it. A few things in it for adults to chuckle at.

    You had a busy week, but at least the bed is up now. It was my last day at work on Friday, but I’ve never been that good at doing nothing. I’ve been editing my manuscript, I’m at Home in the Dark. I need it beta reading, but I’m not sure whether to send it directly to agents or get it beta read. It is a beautiful day today, but I took my dog out earlier today because it will be too hot for him later.

      I’ve heard that you should send it directly to agents and/or publishers. That they understand that it’s rough and can read past that. I think I heard that in a chat thing with a published author. Hope you have a productive week!

    I watched the first season of Titan’s a year or two ago and I enjoyed it but it took forever for S2 to become available in the UK and it slipped off my radar… With S3 inbound, I may have a rewatch!

    I’m glad you got the beds sorted. Good luck with the move and the credit card situation. I really like the sounds of The Maid, I am adding it for sure. I am going to see if I can find Space Jam: The Legacy, it sounds good. I love a movie with a good message.

    The Titans trailer also snagged my interest – think I’ll have to check into that one. So jealous – I got turned down for the McManus book. Hope it’s a good one for you! Also hope the moving goes smoothly – keeping my fingers crossed.

      I probably only got approved because I did a The Write Reads blog tour with her last (?) book and gave it five stars, if I remember correctly. Publishers seem to keep that kind of stuff in a database or something. 🤷🏻‍♀️. For us Superhero fans, Titans is an ooh, aah kind of series.

Best of luck with the moving, we’ve moved so many times I can’t count, and you’re right, they never go completely as planned, but some moves are much better than others.
