#BookBloggerHop | Creative Places to Keep Books

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Question:

What creative places do you keep books other than your bookshelves?

(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

Answer:

I don’t know how creative my book spots are, but other than on my bookshelves you can find books in my house:

  • In cabinets (particularly the ones that are part of the Butler’s Pantry);
  • In drawers (the bottom drawer of my nightstand is perfect for books);
  • In a storage chest along with the extra blankets which are perfect for cuddling in when I read;
  • In my old house: On the tile divide between the shower and tub (because when you’re soaking in bubbles, you must have a mood read, right?)

I’ve seen pictures of books stored in stairs, either as shown above or in the stairs treads. I think that’s pretty creative. Well, the stair tread storage is really just murals, I think. I don’t know that it could actually be done in a structurally sound way but it’s a creative thought.

Where do you keep books or what creative places have you seen for book storage?

  1. No place really exciting. My book shelf is full. In the living room we have a floor lamp with shelves, so you can guess what’s on them. Stacked on my desk. When I read more physical books than ebooks, I had a book in nearly every room. You never know when you’ll have time to read a little.

    1. When I read more physical books, I was the same. Stacks of books were everywhere. Then I found out I have a severe dust mite allergy, and that was the first thing to change.

  2. You have your books stored in some unusual places! I’ve never been precious about books so they can still be found in random places around the house.

    1. I just use what I have. We have lots…and I mean lots…of cabinets, so they seemed like a natural choice once I was assured that we didn’t have anything else that needed to go in them 🙂

  3. Mine are pretty much all on my bookshelves with a few stragglers that end up on the nightstand or coffee table. I’ve also got a small stash in the closet in my den. Noting creative or clever, I’m afraid, just places to keep all of my books 🙂

    1. I never even think creatively when it comes to that, just practically. As in, where do I have room and it will be tidy? Lol 😊

  4. I love all those creative spots, Tessa. Any nook can be dressed up with books. I don’t have much in the way of creative book storage, but when I was growing up, my dad built shelves along the tops of our walls and filled them with paperbacks, hundreds of them. We were constantly dragging chairs around to reach them. 🙂 Happy Reading.

    1. I think he wanted everyone to get some exercise before they read but I love the aesthetics of it 🙂
