My Reading Week

I am currently reading Danger in Numbers by Heather Graham. It’s really short compared to what I normally read. I wondered why it was going so quickly. It’s about a cult and ritualistic murders which is gruesomely compelling. So far, it’s an okay read – not great but not at all bad. I’ll see today if the second half ramps it up a notch or two or if it stays the same.

I just finished Curse of the Celts by Clara O’Connor and, wow, am I glad I gave book 2 a read even though my feelings for book 1 were lukewarm at best. Book 2 is an outstanding read. As a matter of fact I think the series basically should have started with book 2 and been a duology of book 2 and book 3, but that’s just my humble opinion. I am just enamored with the depth and complexity of the plot this time.

Next, I am reading The Bounty by Janet Evanovich and Steve Hamilton. I’ve read the previous 6 books in the series, and I am looking forward to this one. It is so ridiculously funny, though not as popular as Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series. Nick Fox is the quintessential conman and Kate O’Hare (did you notice – the Fox and the Hare – the series truly does match the fable in many ways) is a straight lace cop with an ex-military father who likes to blow things up. Their cases are a mix of a con job and a police investigation and the results border on the illegal, are always ingenious, and have me laughing at loud.
