The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.
Question:
How many blogs do you own?
((submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews))
Answer:
I just own this blog.
I tried to do a WordPress.org site but just the thought of having to rebuild from scratch made me hyperventilate. Why did I try a wordpress.org site? Well, there is a great deal more flexibility at a lower cost. You can achieve the same flexibility with wordpress.com but you have to purchase the e-commerce plan and that’s pretty pricey for a site I don’t make money with. I do however own three different url’s and all are linked to this one blog (theresapulyer.blog, tesstalksbooks.blog, and tessatalksbooks.com)

Many, many years ago, 2010-ish, I had another blog about how to find the right college for high schoolers, their parents, and adults who wanted to earn a degree. It was somewhat successful but once I took a full time job at a local high school as a school counselor, it became impossible to keep up. Though, I think it did help me get the job. I remember that the principal had checked it out and was very impressed.
How about you? How many blogs do you own?

Great question and so interesting about the blog that helped you get that job! I have two other blogs that I don’t do anything on. One I use as a test for changing my theme and the other I haven’t set up properly. Interesting that wordpress.org has a cheaper plan and more flexibility, I must check that out!

I never thought of having an “experimental” blog. I just try to make note of my current theme and then play with other ones. Another to play with is probably a good idea.

I know what you mean about WP. I redid mine and have no idea how I did it. lol
It’s very hard. I have a free one but am thinking of doing an upgrade to the cheapest plan. Maybe!!
My main is over at Blogspot and I also have Bloglovin’ and LinkedIn. I do the most on WP and Blogspot though.
Thanks for sharing.

Is that as complicated as it sounds? I couldn’t take ownership of my blog on Bloglovin. Tried a few times but gave up. You have a great weekend too!

I haven’t done much at all on Bloglovin. I just post reviews on it from NetGalley sometimes. I gave up trying to make it my own also. Too hard.
You pay for WP? Do they help you or is it about the same as the free one. I am thinking of going with a paid account but am wondering if it’s really worth it. I know I will be able to do a few more things, like videos, but still.. is it worth it.

I just have that one below business – it’s not much and I get access to more themes and can choose my own url.

Such a good question! I love that you had a blog dedicated to schools. It’s really hard to get proper information, even with the entire Internet at your fingertips, and I love it when our hobbies help us get jobs. I currently own only Bookishly Ruby. I changed from Blogspot to free WordPress about 3 months ago, and that’s when I also decided to change my blog’s name. It was time, after 10 years with Blogspot I decided that since I was already changing hosts I might as well change the name and rebrand. I owned a series of blogs in the past, mainly when I was in highschool, that weren’t anything interesting, but they did help me learn a lot of stuff about myself and blogging in general. Now I’m pretty happy with my book blog. Can’t wait to see next week’s post. Happy reading!

I think change is good. It can be motivating and breathe new life into our hobbies/interests. Have a wonderful week!
