The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. Do you own an e-reader? If so, what is your favorite thing about it?

Answer:
My iPad is my everything – my e-reader through my Kindle app, iBook app, etc… It is my primary tool for blogging, emailing, and typing up reviews. I even do my social media stuff on it. It is such an important tool for me that I have a back up iPad – my older one – that I use mostly for book photos, but it’s there if something happens to my primary one.
With all major apps/software having cloud storage, I love it because everything I do on my iPad is instantly accessible on my laptop and desktop computers.
My favorite things about using ereaders are:
- I don’t need a light on when it’s dark. So if I wake up in the middle of the night, I can grab my iPad and read until I get tired again without waking up my husband by turning on a lamp.
- I can highlight and jot down notes without messing up beautiful pages. I can even color-code for easy access. For example I highlight names in orange, so if I’m writing my review and need to find a character name, I just filter my notes down to orange highlights and the names are all there to choose from.
- I can take hundreds of books with me anywhere in one small package.
- If I forget my glasses, I can change the font size, so I can read without them.
- I can copy and paste my notes from the book into a word document to be part of my review. I can also do that with quotes.
The best thing I ever did was to give up my opinion that I had to read physical books and switch to an ereader. I still buy physical copies of books, especially if I know I will have an opportunity to get it signed. Let’s face it – that’s one thing you can’t do with an ereader 😊

My daughter likes to tell me all the things that the app can’t do that an actual kindle can but why would I want to do things like have more fonts to choose from. 🙄 I love my iPad and my iPhone too ❤️

Agree with all of your great plus points there 🙂 I struggle to read on my tablet for long periods of time because of the backlighting but I wouldn’t be without my Kindle!

I love reading on my Kindle Oasis. It’s my third Kindle, and I couldn’t imagine my life without them. I’ve noticed that I get headaches if I read too long on my iphone or my iPad, but I’m fine reading on my Kindle.

I’ve heard that from people re iPads. For some reason its never been an issue for me but I would definitely get a kindle if it was 😊

Tessa, I have friends who don’t have problems either. I’m just glad I have the choice of a Kindle Paperwhite/Oasis, otherwise it would have to be physical books for me 😀

I totally agree with all your points – your first one is why my kindle is so invaluable to me. Well that and being able to adjust the font size when I’m not wearing my glasses!

I used to read on my iPad until I dropped it (oops). I may switch back to it if my kindle ever conks out. My main reasons for loving ereaders is night-reading, carrying around my library, and the cost of books is about 1/3 of paperbacks so I can buy 3 times as many! That’s all very true 😊. I think I would cry if I dropped my iPad. At least for a minute before I would regroup and visit apple.com. Lol 😂. Hope you Thanksgiving was nice. Ours was very good. All the dishes came out so tasty 😋

I have a tablet and an old Kindle that I love for different reasons. With the tablet, I can read without lights and books other than in the Kindle format. The Kindle is the one I carry with me everywhere because it is so light and also the airplane mode is a lifesaver when I haven’t finished a book due back at the library.

For me it’s a combo of my Kindle, my Kindle app on my iphone and my Kindle app on my ipad! Depends where I am (and my mood)…I love that they all sync so it doesn’t matter which one I grab, I’m always going to be on the right page. And the glasses – I’m right there with you about the glasses! 😎

Your list is my list, Tessa💜 I never thought I’d give up my physical books but hubby bought me my first eReader ten years ago. I dipped my toe into it cautiously but I’m a gadget person so it didn’t take long for me to find all the merits. When I started binge reading the In Death series, I was so grateful to be able to download the next book in the middle of the night. I’ve never looked back.
Still like seeing my books on the shelf but, I’m reading on my iPad and listening to more books than ebooks on my phone.

So many similarities there. My husband was using kindle long before me and kept after me to try it. And then we took a vacation and I fell in love with the way I could just keep downloading books in a series that I fell in love with. So convenient! ❤️

I used to be that way despite constant coaxing but once I finally gave in there was just no,looking back. I still love to have physical copies of certain books though.
