I am so excited to be part of a reread blog tour of The Chronicles of Elantra (through Harlequin Trade) that will lead up to the publication of Michelle Sagara’s newest book in her newest series that is also set in Elantra – The Emperor’s Wolves. I get to be the 1st review in this tour. I was hoping I would – just because I have only read book 15, Cast in Wisdom, and really wanted to read the beginning of the series. I am reading/reviewing book 2 which the author considers the first book in the series, Cast in Courtlight. I am still marveling at the detail in her world building that is so very different from our own but that she manages to breath life into it to the point where you could turn a corner and not be surprised to find yourself there.

Just Finished

You saw this book in my Friday Book Blogger Hop post, as one of my Labor Day weekend reads. I LOVED IT! And I am so happy I was able to read and review all 3 books in this trilogy which started with The Killing Fog. I got lucky and each book was offered on NetGalley. Yay!! This allows me to prioritize it on my schedule whereas books that I buy tend to get pushed aside for ARCs. This series is Asian-inspired using Asian myths and folklore as a basis. I loved the world which was mostly stunning, the beasts – dragons and phoenixes – such beautiful creatures (and deadly) and MAGIC. Can you go wrong with dragons, phoenixes, and magic in your story?

Reading Next

Harlequin Trade asked me if I’d like to read and review this but not as part of a blog tour. I actually read it’s predecessor The Evil Queen and liked it. I loved the plot and premise, though the characters had some of that whiny angstiness that I don’t care for. I’ll be curious to see if they have grown out of that teenager-ness in this story.

    Great books. I have many to read, but nothing which has caught my eye… Sighhh. I need to buckle down and get cracking at it soon. My list is too long and some of them are the March releases.

      I hope you are enjoying it! You know that I love suspense too but I often wonder if I’d be able to really enjoy a book if I was reading it for work. That tends to be a different kind of reading. ❤️

      Oh no!! Hopefully they will be able to resolve it. I do have quite a few fantasy books this fall. I guess it balances out the summer which was one thriller after the next. I do have a few mysteries coming up in the next few weeks, though. Will be a great change.❤️

      I’d love to have the time to read them all. But for now I will have to settle for book 2 and book 15. It is such a great series though, maybe one day ❤️

    That’s a stunning cover for The Glass Queen. When the first book came out, I almost requested it, but now can’t remember why I didn’t.

      The first book was very good. If it wasn’t for the angsty piece – I would rave 100%. It’s a princess retelling that is pretty unique, I think. At least it’s unique to me.

    I like the sound of The Glass Queen, especially with the fairy tale slant.
    I just finished Cold Days (Harry Dresden #13), read an anthology of murder mysteries, and have just started The Twins, book #4 of the Astral Conspiracy series by D. L. Cross.
    Two more Dresden books to go and I’ll be caught up for the release of #16 in October!

    I liked The Evil Queen and have been looking forward to The Glass Queen. I love what Showalter’s created with this series, aside from the whininess of the heroine. I hope you love it. Happy reading! Here’s my WWW Wednesday post.
