The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.
Question:
Have you ever read a book that was suggested by another blogger?
(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
Answer:

For sure! Since we all publish our reviews of ARCs at different times, if I see one that looks good from an early review – I run over to NetGalley and keep my fingers crossed for approval. Fable is the most recent example of that but there have been many more. Books recommended that are already out go on my TBR list, and I pick them up from there as I have a free moment. Mae Clair’s novel, Cusp of Night, instantly comes to mind as one I was able to take from my TBR pile from blog recommendations. I wish I had more time to take on all of them, but I do what I can ❤️
Have you read a book suggested by another blogger?
O, if I see a good ARC review, the first thing I do is also check out Netgalley 😉
But also, once I get to know what a blogger’s book tastes are (and if they are somewhat aligned to mine) I would get my recommendations there. (Not that I need any, I’ve the literal Mt. TBR to finish already 😉 )

That is the hard part – the mountainous TBR pile ❤️

I’m exactly the same Tessa, always hopping off to NetGalley if I see a book I like the look of! 😀

NetGalley is wonderful and sometimes the bane of my existence with all those hard to resist choices. But, I still love it 😍

Netgalley don’t carry many of the types of books I prefer to read, or else I get lost down a rabbit hole of choices. I do need to spread my reading wings and try more genres though, so perhaps this should be the motivation to use blogger reviews to inspire my reading choices.

Using blogger reviews is a great way to spread your wings. You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain ❤️

Yes indeed. I recently downloaded James J Cudney’s book “Academic Curveball” the first in a series of cozy mysteries – my first in that genre. I’ll start it next week.

This was an easy answer for me as well – blogs are a great way to pick up recommendations 🙂

They are like a virtual personalized bookstore, which makes the recommendations even harder to resist.

I’m always seeing books on other blogs that I want to read – which is why I’ll never make it through my TBR!

I put the TBR on Goodreads unless it is Kindle Unlimited then I just download it. But I’m with you totally!
