The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Question:

Do you look at your shelves and stacks of books and wonder how you have ever read so many books?

(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews

Answer:

The number of books I have read is so large it’s incomprehensible to me. I’ve been a voracious reader since I was three and that was very many years ago.

I used to have a library room (my office) in my house with two large bookshelves and two normal bookshelves that were all over full plus I had a shelf in my bedroom that was full and piles of read books in there as well. We were being taken over by books.

In our new house, the bookshelves came with us but they are not in one room anymore and I don’t keep stacks of books in my bedroom due to a bad dust mite allergy. But I’m still reading and if all the ebooks I read were physical books, there would be no room for us in the house.

So the answer to the question is actually NO because if I ever took a minute and thought about that unimaginable number, I think my brain would explode. So, I don’t ever think about it. I just keep reading and enjoying that no matter how many books I have read authors still manage to surprise me with the stories they tell.

Do you ever wonder how you have read so many books?

  1. If I count up the number of books I’ve read, since I got a kindle not quite 5 years ago, the number is well into 4 figures. The huge number of books it can hold is both the blessing and curse of an e-reader!

    1. I haven’t even looked at my ebook numbers. I know the number of unread is in the hundreds so the number of read will be quite large.

  2. I can’t even begin to imagine how many I’ve read. Like you, I started at a very young age a long time ago. And I have no idea how many are on my Kindle or Nook – but I’m determined to read all of them!

  3. There has to be a gif somewhere of a house exploding and books flying everywhere. I think a lot of us feel that way. I always wanted a library, the kind with high shelves and a ladder! Alas, as we downsize and downsize that dream had to go. Most of my books are ebooks now. And though I doubt I could ever read as many books as you do, what I have still feels like a lot! A great problem to have. 😀

    1. I always wanted a formal library too. Mine was not as grand but I still enjoyed it. Books are never a problem 😊

    1. I can’t imagine your numbers even more than I can’t imagine mine. So many wonderful books.

  5. I’ve been lucky to have read so many fantastic books but I’ve never counted them because like you, I’ve been an avid reader all my life. Moving over to Kindle and Audible has definitely helped with the space issue. 😉
