Book Blogger Hop | Visiting My Local Library

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

How often do you visit your local library?

Well, one of the consequences of the pandemic is that I haven’t visited the library in many months. I do visit it virtually, though. Lately, I’ve been visiting it to find earlier books in a series when I have a later ARC. I currently have holds on The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi and Song of Blood and Stone by L. Penelope.

Before the pandemic, I would visit the library a few times a month. It’s on Main Street, so it’s usually part of my visits to get coffee and do some shopping.

When my girls were little, we used to go a few times per week for story time, to get more books, and to play on the computers there they had just for kids with fun kid software.

Libraries are great!

    Don’t have one to visit. As a child my dad took me to a library. It was huge with a lot of books. I loved sitting there to read my comics.

      I wonder how many countries have libraries and how wide spread they are. That childhood memory sounds so nice ❤️

    As a kid I went quite often to the library – now I have to admit that I do have a subscription any more. Between the books I already and the ARCs I don’t know where I would have time to read the library books – although I do miss the browsing and the excitement when finally the book you were looking for for months was available!

      I actually almost bought The Gilded Wolves then luckily I remembered to check the library. Now that my girls are older, I often forget to utilize it as much as I should.

    I feel sort of guilty that I don’t visit mine more, but I tend to only read ebooks and I’ve no idea if I can borrow those from my local library! I’d completely forgotten that, when my boys were small, I also used to book sessions for them to go on the computers, since we didn’t have the internet at home.

    Like you and your girls, when my boys were younger, we visited frequently for story times, summer reading programs, etc. I’m in a book club through our library, so I visit monthly for meetings, but like most folks, our meetings are through Zoom now. I still “visit” my library by downloading audiobooks regularly.

      I was invited to a bookclub that meets at the library right before the pandemic hit, so I never did get a chance to attend. Maybe once a better sense of normalcy returns ❤️

      It’s a quaint older one but I love it. The county likes modernizing the libraries and the one in Downtown Charlotte, NC is mind-blowingly modern and cool.

    Before COVID I went, to the library, a couple of times a week. Now, I order books online and I can pick them up when they are ready for pick up. Our library is grab and go right now. We can’t linger inside the building.

      I think my library is working that way too. I’ve just been putting ebooks on hold as needed because it just seems easier and maybe safer.

    All of my libraries (I use three) are currently only open for curbside pickup, and at the moment I usually pick up books at least once a week. 😀

    When I was a kid, my parents took me to the library every weekend. It’s one of the reasons I fell in love with books. Since my husband retired several years ago he works part-time at our local library. Before the pandemic I would visit 2-3 time a month. I have been back in since it re-opened, and am hoping to get back to a regular schedule. I love the library!

      There is just something about all those books – it inspires happiness and comradery. I would totally take a part-time position at our library if one opened up ❤️

    AHHH!!! SOO heartwarming to know how you and your daughters used to go to the library together!!!! ❤ ❤ And oh my god this pandemic is THE WORST! I haven't been able to visit my library for MONTHS!!!! 😦

      One of the best things, when you love books as we do, is to be able to share them with friends and family. And the library is such a great place for that! ❤️

      I imagine mine won’t be fully open until we finally go into stage 3. We’ve been stuck in stage 2 since May. It would be so nice to enjoy Main Street again (which includes the library) ❤️

    I used to visit our town’s library regularly with my girls when they were younger too, Tessa. A library is a magical place for children. Unfortunately, apart from visiting the occasional exhibition they host, I haven’t set foot in it for years.

      I’ve definitely had periods in my life when I visited it often and times when I barely visit it at all. That’s one of the great things about a library- it’s always there when you want or need it ❤️
