I’m supposed to be at the beach this week, but the owner of the house canceled our reservations. So, here I sit dreaming about white sand, a pleasant beach breeze, and the waves’ roar as they roll in. Luckily, I have some great reads to distract me.

I just finished The Night Swim by Megan Goldin. It is an excellent psychological thriller set on the NC coast. I hated to put it down, even to take care of necessities, such as meals and sleep. Today, I will start a more recent widget acquisition, A Private Cathedral by James Lee Burke. I couldn’t resist when the publisher sent it to me. It sounds like another book I will be happy to get lost in, even though it’s going to make me have to read fast and furiously in a few weeks to get to all the books I promised to review read. Lastly, by this weekend, I will be enjoying Hunter’s Secret by Val Penny. It is part of a Rachel’s Random Resources blog tour and sounds very intriguing to me. Who doesn’t love a disappearing dead body?

    All the books sound pretty good (I think you and I have similar tastes in stories). But The Night Swim sounds awesome. Thanks for sharing. And I hope you find something almost as nice as the beach to do this week.

      The Night Swim – well it’s one of those books I just can’t say enough good things about. I loved it!
      This week, I’ll just have to go across the street and stare longingly at the lake ,😜 if it just wasn’t so hot 🥵 out.

    I’m so sorry about your vacation. I know how you love the beach (me, too!).

    Naturally, I’m intrigued by The Night Swim. You know how I love psychological thrillers. As soon as I finish reading the Harry Dresden series (I’m now on book #13), I have a lot of them to catch up with!

      There is something about the book that draws me in. I even put it down at one point thinking I would read it next month but just couldn’t help but go back to it. It definitely is well-written and such a compelling story ❤️
