Book Blogger Hop | Quote Your Favorite Author

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Question:

Quote your favorite author.

(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

Answer:

The voice of the sea is seductive; never ceasing, whispering, clamoring, murmuring, inviting the soul to wander for a spell in abysses of solitude; to lose itself in mazes of inward contemplation. The voice of the sea speaks to the soul. The touch of the sea is sensuous, enfolding the body in its soft, close embrace.

Chapter 6, The Awakening by Kate Chopin

If you had to pick just one, who would you say is your favorite author?

  1. Ooh, so difficult to choose a favourite author – I have so many. But, because I’m lazy here are a couple of quotes that immediately spring to mind:
‘There was a hand in the darkness and it held a knife’ – Neil Gaiman’s Graveyard Book
‘It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife’ – Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

      1. Still my favorite of his, but warning: it isn’t for everyone because it is SO poetic. If that’s not your style, The Cat’s Table and Anil’s Ghost are more literary and less poetic.

    1. I read it in college and it has always stayed close to my heart. 6th grade? Yea – I can’t imagine a 6th grader understanding it. Yikes! Have a wonderful weekend ❤️

    1. It truly is. That’s why I go back to the classics – still there a handful of writers from that time period who are my favorite too. ❤️

  2. That is a beautiful quote. I haven’t read The Awakening or anything by Kate Chopin. This makes me want to. I hope you have a good week.

    1. The Awakening is a beautiful and poignant novella about how restrictive the Victorian age was to women and the impact on the main character’s psyche. Definitely worth reading! ❤️

  3. My partner and I absolutely love your blog and find nearly all of your post’s to be exactly what I’m looking for. Do you offer guest writers to write content to suit your needs? I wouldn’t mind publishing a post or elaborating on most of the subjects you write in relation to here. Again, awesome website!
