Book Blogger Hop | Deciding What to Read

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

How do you decide the order of reading your books?

(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

Answer:

This is an easy question for me. The date of the scheduled reviews totally dictates the order in which I read books. I agree to way too many reviews (at least lately), so that really leaves very little room for doing it any other way. Some exceptions: (1) If I actually DNF an ARC – then I get to pick an “in the mood for” book from my TBR; and (2) one of the blog tours I do reviews for doesn’t tell me my actual posting date until after I’ve read the book, so I have to best guess place the book in my reading order.

Here is my calendar – my planned reading is in yellow. I mark NetGalley books so I don’t forget that I need to post my review in NetGalley 😊:

How do you decide what to read next?

    1. I’m crazy organized and I love using different colors – it’s so pretty 😊. But really, I never be able to get all that I promise posted if I weren’t so crazy organized.

  1. Love this post! I so admire you for having a reading plan like this. I’m such a mood reader, so apart from when I’m taking part in blog tours, it really depends on what I fancy reading at any given time. I’ve tried very unsuccessfully in the past to have a system like yours with publication dates, but it stole all the joy out of reading for me. I might join in with this 🙂

    1. Mostly I try very hard to pick books I will enjoy – so that makes it easier but, let’s face it, I hit clunkers and that’s when it becomes hard. I attribute my ability to get through those books with what I learned in college – when you major in English, you learn to read on demand. But, organizing my reading like I do is definitely not for everyone.❤️

  2. I love color coding!! My book planning USED to be simple – whatever I could get from the library, work through that stack, and then move on to the next stack from the library. But now I have NO organization or motivation!!

  3. Wow! You are so organized and I LOVE it! I have tried to create a reading/blogging schedule a few times, but I tend to read whatever I’m in the mood for, and my blogging is all over the place, so it just ends up being me doing whatever I want all the time.

    1. I sometimes wish I could do things like that but structure makes me happy, so I organize in a pretty colorful way 😊

    1. The other day my sister was showing me how organized her son is and I told her to show him my calendar to give him something to aspire to ❤️

  5. I love your calendar – I wish I was a bit more organised. I’m also a mood reader so I find it hard to force myself to pick up a book if I’m not in the mood. Great blog post!

    1. Sometimes I wish I could go back to mood reading but tbh I thrive in structure, so I guess the calendar approach just works for me ❤️
