#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here or in the post announcing it. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.
This week the topic is Rom-Coms. A genre that I love to read when I need a break from my normal books or just when I need a few good laughs to break up stress. And with these crazy times around us, we all need that kind of break.
Blog Tour – Will Be Reviewing

#1 The Gin Lover’s Guide to Dating by Nina Kaye
The title of the book alone makes me laugh. I’m looking forward to starting this book very soon
Book blurb: When Liv’s high-flying career goes off the rails, she finds herself working at a glitzy new gin bar to pay the bills. Yes, she’s got a knack for reading the customers, she’s finally got time to have some fun, and she might have just found some real friends – but it’s just until she gets her life back on track, right?

#2 Just Another Silly Love Song by Rich Ammoi
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book in this genre by a man. I’m very curious, for many reasons, and excited to be reading it in a month or so.
Book blurb: Two rival radio personalities. Lori Martin is a positive and upbeat DJ, known for playing love songs and dedications. Ben Baxter dishes out no-nonsense, in-your-face relationship advice. Total opposites. Never in a million years would they want to work together.
Other Rom-Coms on my TBR

#3 The Overdue Life of Amy Byler by Kelly Harms
I have been enjoying this one here and there – on those occasions when I walk around the lake alone. It’s cute and makes me look crazy when people see my laughing out loud for no apparent reason – which makes me laugh even harder.
Book blurb: Overworked and underappreciated, single mom Amy Byler needs a break. So when the guilt-ridden husband who abandoned her shows up and offers to take care of their kids for the summer, she accepts his offer and escapes rural Pennsylvania for New York City.

#4 Hero at Large by Janet Evanovich
I love Evanovich’s mystery series but she also write the occassional rom-com. This one came out in 2010 and I have no doubt that it offers more than a few laugh out loud moments.
Book Blurb: He cooks a pot holder in the spaghetti sauce and needs lessons on making Jell-O. Still, single mom and ice skating coach Chris Nelson is committed to keeping her sexy, scruffy, new “house husband” around. After all, she did break his arm…and his toe…and she can’t just turn him out into the cold…

#5 Can You Keep A Secret by Sophie Kinsella
I’ve made no secret of the fact that I love the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella, so I’m really curious about her other books.
Book blurb: Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets: Secrets from her boyfriend: I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken. Secrets from her mother: I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur. Secrets she wouldn’t share with anyone in the world: I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is. Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger.…Until Emma comes face-to-face with Jack Harper, the company’s elusive CEO, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her…
**Do you have any rom-coms on your TBR?**
It’s a strange new world out there
I hope everyone is holding up okay with all the craziness. Staying at home as much as possible. Keeping that distance from others. Washing your hands. And, most of all, taking care of your own mental and physical health.
I will be spending a few hours everyday this week handing out food to the homeless/economically challenged residents of my community through a non-profit that I often volunteer with. Grocery stores – well some especially the closest ones – are pretty bare when it comes to fresh foods – produce, meats and milk – as well as toilet paper, disinfectants and sometimes even soap. So, I feel it’s important to help those who would have trouble traveling far and wide looking for essentials in this crazy time.
I also have been walking around the lake that’s across the street from my home regularly. This fresh air keeps me from going stir crazy. And, as always, enjoying good books!
RomComs are a great way of taking a break from other books! They’re palate cleansers for me as well 🙂 And not only I need a break from what’s happening in the world but also I think I overdosed on fantasy recently and need something fluffy and simple ❤
Amazing choices! Especially the last one! I can imagine myself oversharing on accident and then regretting it instantly!
Thank you so much for participating!! Hope you had fun!!
And stay safe as well! ❤ It's not easy out there and you're doing wonderful things for your community but remember to take care of you too!!!

Awww. Thank you! The post is fun, especially since my review mostly focus on mystery and fantasy. I picked up the two I’ll review exactly because I needed a break from the norm – I needed to use some different adjectives 😊

Sounds like you have some light-hearted reading there, Tessa. 🙂 And how wonderful that you’ll be volunteering to help distribute food. I’m going to be sewing face masks this week. If we all help out a little, together the impact will be huge. Take care as you take care of others.

My husband left me a germ buster kit this morning before he left which is sweet. I know the center I volunteer with is very conscious about everyone staying safe, so I’m only mildly anxious. And how great that your sewing face masks! Stay well ❤️
