Book Blogger Hop | What’s On My Book Blog

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

what do you feature on your blog?

Answer:

This blog has been going through growth over the last year and with that came changes or perhaps it was the other way around – that the changes inspired growth – so, there have many different type of posts as I work to make my book blog the best that I can make it.

Little history first: Thanks to some crazy, unrelated, and potentially fatal health-related events (that I have since fully recovered from) and subsequent life changes (i.e. quitting my counseling job to reduce the stress in my life), I found myself with the time to finally put down the stories in my head on paper.

Many articles that I read said that writers should have a blog. Those articles never said what should be on that blog, though. Since I needed to hold myself accountable for keeping up with my reading while I was writing, I started the rudiments of a book blog – with just one review a week and nothing else.

Then I learned about ARCs and how to get them, opening up a whole new world to me.

Now I have a true book blog with the following types of posts other than reviews:

  • WWW Wednesday – a look at my current reads
  • Book Blogger Hop (this post) where I answer a bookish question each week
  • Author Q and A’s and Excerpts (as I have them)
  • Bookish gift ideas (December)
  • NaNoWriMo reflections (November)
  • The occasional book promo post and cover reveals
  • Hopping across the Blogosphere (found with the Book Blogger Hop)
  • Starting next month – I‘m excited to be adding in the occasional Guest Post

    So funny! I just answered a very similar question on a different blog, but it wasn’t a part of this blog hop.

    I love reading about the bookish lives of others! I know that’s vague and I find it hard to describe, but I’m much more likely to click on a blog post if it’s about someone’s life rather than simply a book review.

      I think connecting with others is pretty integral and reading about their thoughts and lives can be very interesting. And even easier to read than other posts, like book reviews. ❤️

    My blog has gone through a a lot of transitions over the years. I started blogging in 2012 prior to the publication of my first book, later that year. I had some regular weekly features, guest authors, and, of course, my collections of “weirdness.” Despite reading constantly, I never reviewed books on my blog until last year. Now I am so glad I did. I can’t imagine why I was resistant to the idea for so long. In addition, I have found great recommendations from other book review blogs (yours included). I really love the blogging community!
