The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.
I always hate when people ask me which genre I like the most. I love books – all genres – as long as they have something to which I can connect. Some are full of meaning that will resonate with me for years to come, and others are just a fun escape. I mostly love the fun escape, but I do have a deep appreciation for the talent it takes to write books with many levels of meaning. So let’s look at the numbers based on Goodread’s data:
No surprises here – I mostly focus on mystery and fantasy for this blog, and I think the pie chart reflects that it was the appropriate choice for me.
If I were to walk up to a table full of all genre books, what would I pick up first?
Well, epic fantasy books usually have the prettiest covers, in my opinion, so that would be the first book I would pick up and read the back cover. Then I would look at the books where the title is tantalizing, promising a thrilling read. After I’ve exhausted those, I would pick up books that look like they would be funny – usually, you can tell by the cover and title. After all of that, I would walk up the cashier with a massive stack of books and a heart full of excitement for what the covers hold.
I read to escape, and the world I like to escape to is the one where good always wins in the end or where I get to laugh at my quirks and eccentricities.
