Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Just Finished

The Third to Die by Allison Brennan

Genre: Mystery Thriller
Review will be posted Tuesday 2/4/20
with hopefully an author Q and A the day before 2/3/20.

Detective Kara Quinn, on leave from the LAPD, is on an early morning jog in her hometown of Liberty Lake when she comes upon the body of a young nurse. The manner of death shows a pattern of highly controlled rage.

Meanwhile in DC, FBI special agent Mathias Costa is staffing his newly minted Mobile Response Team. Word reaches Matt that the Liberty Lake murder fits the profile of the compulsive Triple Killer. It will be the first case for the MRT. This time they have a chance to stop this zealous if elusive killer before he strikes again. But only if they can figure out who he is and where he is hiding before he disappears for another three years. The stakes are higher than ever before, because if they fail, one of their own will be next…

My Thoughts

Their is nothing unique or different about the plot and the supporting character were a bit 2 dimensional BUT I loved it regardless. The main character Kara Quinn is a main character I would happily follow through many stories, and I was carried quickly through the pages by the suspense of whether or not they were going to catch this guy!

Currently Reading

The Unwilling by Kelly Braffet

Genre: Fantasy
Review will be posted on 2/11/20
with hopefully an author Q and A on 2/10/20

The Unwilling is the story of Judah, a foundling born with a special gift and raised inside Highfall castle along with Gavin, the son and heir to Lord Elban’s vast empire. Judah and Gavin share an unnatural bond that is both the key to her survival…and possibly her undoing. The girl who started life with no name and no history will soon uncover more to her story than she ever imagined.

My thoughts

The prologue almost stopped me in my tracks in regards to reading this book, but luckily I kept going. Whereas there was a stark dryness to the prologue, the book starting with Chapter 1 is vibrant and full of color. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the story.

Reading Next

One by K.J. McGillick

Genre: Mystery Thriller
Review will be posted on 2/6/20

Someone’s going to die, that is for certain. But will just one death be enough for Azar Abed or will nothing satisfy her until millions of innocent people are dead? It’s frightening to think of the path that personal revenge can lead a person down. All that plotting and planning that ultimately leads to one goal- the extinguishment of one life. But what happens when a psychopath with power and money is determined to implode the world’s economy through a bioterrorism attack?

Set against a backdrop of Washington, DC, ONE is a heart pounding-psychological thriller pitting greed against greed in a cat-and-mouse game where vengeance is the only prize. It can be read as a standalone, or as the conclusion to events begun in its predecessor, TWO. It concludes the Path of Deception and Betrayal series.

My Thoughts

I loved TWO (review scheduled for 1/23) so I am so looking forward to reading its conclusion, ONE. The book titles are THREE, TWO, and ONE like a bomb countdown, which is in itself unique. TWO was so action-packed and I really hope ONE is similar. It definitely sounds as exciting.

  1. It sounds like you hit upon three really good ones. I’m currently doing a beta read for another author, but hope to get back to my regular reading by the weekend. Books are piling up on my TBR, and I keep ordering more!

    1. Always piling up. Someone asked me to read his book on Instagram yesterday and I pointed him to the post/picture I took recently of my planner (for a photo challenge) He totally understood why it would take me a few months to maybe get to his book 📚. Happy reading when you get done with the Beta read 😊
