Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

First off, Happy New Year!!! May 2020 be even better than 2019 ❤️

Since I was out of town last week, I literally made no progress in terms of reading but I am progressing now and have added my own comments to each book!

Currently Reading

Genre: Mystery Thriller
This book is currently out and available through Amazon. I am reviewing it as part of a blog tour by Rachel’s Random Resources on 1/23/20.

Her husband wants her locked away in a psychiatric facility. His business partner wants her dead.

Trust. Who do we place our trust in every day? Family members, friends and people who we turn to for help, doctors. But what if the doctor you placed your trust in had secrets? Dark secrets. So many secrets.

Isabella Armond is an ordinary Parisian woman with a comfortable life — until a shocking discovery shatters her perfect world. As her husband’s behavior becomes increasingly unstable, Isabella slowly realizes all the signs point to the fact he is not who he appears to be. Is he a respected Cardio-thoracic surgeon with a thriving Paris medical practice helping people? Or is he leading a double life which involves the international trafficking of black market organs? Greed, blood money, and psychopath are the terms she learns are associated with a man she thought she knew.

Forced to delve deeper into her husband’s secret life, she makes discoveries that will make her question everything she believed forcing her to face an impossible decision. She is desperate to uncover the truth, but once you know something, it can’t be unknown. The more she learns, the more she wishes she knew nothing at all.

When the sun dims, your second self shall disappear. Consequences not of her making were nipping at her heels. Tick. Tock.

A gripping thriller that will have you hooked. If you want a thriller of epic psychological proportions that will test the limits of your mind this book is for you. Explore the dark side with TWO Mind Games and Murder.

My Thoughts

This novel began pretty fast and furious, immediately dropping me in the world of black market organ harvesting. If it continues like it started, it will be a great read to start off the new year.

Book Blurb

The Holy Empire hates the People of Light. Maripes, arriving in its capital, seeks to save his people from certain destruction. The Inquisition seeks theocratic justice, and it will stop at nothing to rid the world of those it considers evil.

Still, Maripes must try. For if he fails, doom will certainly befall his people. Standing in his way? The High Inquisitor, the Empress, and a million subjects all indoctrinated to believe he is evil incarnate.

Should be an easy task.

Otherwise, his son Mono, a soldier in the legions of their people, will face the fight of his life. In the end, will Mono’s daughter be forced to pick up the pieces of a broken world?

My Thoughts

This is a big story in a little novella package. Though the dialogue is forced at times, the strong plot more than makes up for this technical hurdle.

SOMETHING IS WAKING

The fiefs that exist at the heart of the city of Elantra are home to sentient Towers that guard the world against the incursion of Shadow. But between the fiefs exists the gray world of the border zone. In it, geography changes between one passage across a border and the next. The rules of magic are different there—and yet somehow familiar to Kaylin Neya.

When a Shadow escapes, Kaylin must find out how…and why. If Shadows can breach the barrier erected by the Towers, the whole of Elantra will be devoured. It’s happened on other worlds. Bellusdeo, Kaylin’s Dragon companion, absolutely believes it can happen on theirs.

The border zone holds secrets and ancient histories, and people are gathering there in search of its power. Without even understanding what that power is, or why it exists, Kaylin is in a desperate race against time to find those secrets first. She doesn’t know who her enemies are. She doesn’t know how many she’ll face. But she won’t face them alone.

My Thoughts

I’m really curious about this book. It is Book 15 in the series, and I’m hoping I don’t regret taking on a book from a long standing series without having read any of the preceding books. Fingers-crossed! 🤞🏻

    1. It has a great deal of potential and a really enthusiastic fan-base, so I know it could definitely be a series that I love. And Harlequin MIRA puts out a limited number of fantasy books, so when they offered it to me to review I jumped at the chance.

  1. I’m intrigued by Two, and also curious how you’ll do with Cast in Wisdom, given it’s book 15. I started the Pendergast series with book 4, although that’s probably a bit different as 90% of those wrap the story at the end of each book. You must be really intrigued by the Elantra series!

    1. Two is really good so far. There have been a few minor editing issues that I wouldn’t have expected since the book is already published but it has a very strong suspense plot and characters that are well-developed. Really a gripping story.
